Chocolate Covered Strawberries Recipe

Last Updated Aug 05, 2020

There is something about chocolate covered strawberries that makes your taste buds begging for more!  There are so many elements that go with this famously, decadent dessert, it is hard to picture which one will leave you wanting more.

Chocolate covered strawberries are so easy to make.  I love receiving art form, but equally I enjoy giving them as gifts!

Of course, with any recipe, no matter how simple, the quality of the ingredients can make all the difference.  Therefore, go for the fancy or even better still organic chocolate.  Pick strawberries that are ripe and ready from your organic or local farmers market.

The other trick to making this recipe is that the strawberries need to be 100% dry.  The drier the strawberry, the more chance the chocolate has to "adhere" to the strawberry.

Ingredients

  • punnet fresh strawberries
  • 2 cups dark chocolate chips or chopped chocolate

Equipment

  • Double-boiler or a heatproof bowl and saucepan
  • spatula
  • Parchment paper
  • Baking sheet
  • Small plastic bag

Instructions

  1. Wash and completely dry the strawberries: Wash your strawberries under cold water and then gently pat them dry.
  2. Melt the dark chocolate over the double boiler.
  3. Once the chocolate has melted, place the bowl of melted chocolate in front of you on a towel. Have the strawberries ready and the baking tray with parchment paper close by.
  4. Dip the strawberries by grasping the strawberry by the top leaves and dipping it into the chocolate and completely coat.
  5. Lay the coated strawberry on the parchment paper. Repeat steps 4 and 5 until all the strawberries have been dipped and are on the parchment paper.
  6. Let the chocolate set until they are dry to the touch. You can put your baking tray in the fridge to speed this along.
