Crystal Deodorant

Deodorant is a must to keep away odours and to keep yourself feeling fresh, but if you are worried about the chemicals in standard deodorants, there is a new option.  Crystal deodorants are natural and extremely safe to use.  Read on to learn more.

What is Body Odour?

Body odour is not caused by sweating alone.  It actually occurs when perspiration comes into contact with bacteria on the skin.  If you eliminate the bacteria or the perspiration, you solve the problem.  However, stopping the body from perspiring or sweating is not healthy as the body uses perspiration to help regulate its temperature, and to help eliminate toxins.

What is Crystal Deodorant?

Crystal deodorant is made from 100 percent natural mineral salts, which are hypoallergenic and free from parabens and fragrance.  Crystal deodorant is not sticky, will not stain, and does not leave white marks on clothes.  It is suitable for both men and women and it is perfect for people that have sensitive skin, allergies, or those that simply want a natural alternative to traditional deodorants.  The deodorant is also extremely environmentally friendly.

How Does Crystal Deodorant Work?

Crystal deodorants are made from natural mineral salts with no perfumes, chemicals, dyes or parabens.  The mineral salts form a topical layer on the skin, creating an environment that is impossible for bacteria to grow on.  Thus, the deodorant eliminates the odour-causing bacteria and prevents body odour.

This is different to traditional deodorants which work by using perfume to mask odour, alcohol to shrink pores, and use aluminium chlorohydrate or aluminium zirconium.  These compounds physically block the pores in order to reduce perspiration, but by doing so, they also prevent the body from naturally expelling toxins through sweat.

Using Crystal Deodorant

Crystal deodorant should be applied to clean skin straight after bathing.  This means that the bacteria have not had a chance to form on the skin, and therefore the physical barrier of the deodorant will operate at its optimum.  Moisten the deodorant before using.  Be aware that the deodorant will not stop you from sweating.  It will simply stop the accompanying odours.

Be careful not to leave solid crystal deodorant on marble or granite surfaces as it can cause discolouration.
