Kahuna Massage

Kahuna Massage

Kahuna massage is a type of massage that connects the mind, body, and spirit.  It is based on the lomi lomi and is both gentle and deep.  Read on to learn more.

What is Kahuna Massage?

Kahuna massage comes from the South Pacific and it was traditionally used as during rites of passage as a transformational massage and healing system.  The aim of this style of massage is to allow energy to flow freely throughout the body.  There are a number of unique elements in kahuna massage.  The massage therapist uses their hands, forearms and elbows during the massage and moves around the table using flowing hula-style and tai chi-style movements while giving soft and deep tissue massage.  Often there will be two therapists to work on one client.  Long, deep pressure strokes and movements are used, rather than the traditional short strokes used in many other types of massage.  These long strokes are deeply relaxing.  During the massage, music is played.  The therapist adjusts the massage in order to harmonise the rhythms within the client’s body, mind, and soul.

The Kahuna Massage Process

Before the massage begins, the therapist will sit down with you to find out about your current mental, emotional, and physical health.  This helps to decide what the focus of the massage should be.  While you are being massaged, focus on your breathing.  Draw clean, pure, fresh energy into the body and allow stale or negative energy to leave you.  After the massage, be sure to drink plenty of water as this helps the body to continue detoxifying itself.  In the days after the massage, you may feel different emotions.  Do not be concerned as it is just the energies in your body continuing to shift.  The healing, cleansing and rebalancing of the body can be felt for a few weeks after the massage.

Who Can Use Kahuna Massage and What is it Suitable For?

Kahuna massage is suitable for everyone, no matter what their age or what state of health they are in.  It is great for people that are suffering from stress, depression, exhaustion, physical pain or injuries, confusion, grief, or loss.  It is also helpful if you are trying to deal with illness, work, or relationship problems.
