Treatments
Osteopathy is a form of manual medicine which recognises the important link between the structure of the body and the way it functions. Osteopaths focus on how the skeleton, joints, muscles, nerves, circulation, connective tissue and internal organs function as a holistic unit. Using skilled evaluation, diagnosis and a wide range of hands-on techniques, osteopaths can identify important types of dysfunction in your body. Osteopathic treatment uses techniques such as stretching and massage for general treatment of the soft tissues (muscles, tendons and ligaments) along with mobilisation of specific joints and soft tissues.
Chiropractic seeks to identify areas where biomechanical dysfunction or tissue dysfunction is affecting nerves, and to correct these problems. Correction is achieved in a number of ways. In our clinic specific soft tissue massage and adjustments are used. Stretching, nutritional advice, exercises and other methods are also used as indicated by the situation. The desired result is pain-free healthily moving body which is not predisposed to further injury.
Acupuncture is a part of the traditional medicine of China that has been practised for over 3,000 years in China and since the early 1800’s in the western world. It is used to treat a wide variety of ailments such as back pain, arthritis, insomnia, headaches, menstrual disorders digestive problems, depression and anxiety and many other problems successfully. Herbal preparations may also be prescribed if appropriate. It is particularly useful for acute and painful disorders.
