Introduction
Discover how Acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine can help you with the ailments of the 21st century.
I use the traditional approach of tongue and pulse diagnosis in relation to your signs and symptoms, to develop a treatment program combining Massage, Acupuncture and Chinese Herbal Medicine for pain management and to give you a better quality of life.
Any form of medicine has still got to track down the real cause of the problem and how the patient can help themselves. I work with you to help you, whether it be by changing posture, diet, exercise or your way of thinking.
How does Acupuncture work?
The Chinese believe that we have 14 meridians (channels) to which chi (energy) flows, connecting with our internal organs. Thus muscular skeletal and internal organ disorders can be influenced by inserting needles at certain points along the meridians.
Chinese Herbal Medicine
Chinese Herbal Medicine has survived the passage of time using formulas that have been developed over the past 2, 000 years.
These herbal formulas can be used for liver and digestive disorders; colds, 'flu and respiratory disorders; acne and skin disorders; menopause and gynaecological disorders.
I prescribe quality Chinese Herbal formulas in capsule or tablet form. I am very careful that my herbal formulas do not contain any animal products.
Cosmetic Acupuncture
The various lines and colours on our faces relate to our overall health and function of our internal organs. Facial, Tongue and Pulse diagnosis can tell an experienced practitioner where the imbalances lie.
The face is treated with traditional techniques such as massage, use of a jade roller, Gua Sha and then the insertion of fine high quality needles to reduce the lines and wrinkles on the face.
Herbal medicines are included as part of the holistic treatment.
What are the benefits of Cosmetic Acupuncture?
It helps to reduce the appearance of facial lines. It can also help minimise dark circle and puffy eyes. Other benefits include;
• Improves muscle tone
• Increases circulation
• Increases collagen production
• Successful treatment of acne
• Nourishes the skin, giving you a healthy complexion with a natural glow
Are there any side effects?
Cosmetic Acupuncture is very gentle and safe. You may notice that the skin is slightly flushed for a few hours after the treatment. This is normal and due to the increase in circulation to the face.
As the face is very vascular there is a slight chance of minor and temporary bruising at the site of needle insertion, however all care is taken to reduce this possibility.
How many treatments will I need?
Every person will respond differently depending on their age and lifestyle. The course of treatments is between 10 and 15 sessions over several months. Initially two treatments per week are recommended. Following the full course of treatments, maintenance treatments will be required from time to time.
