A Natural Path…

Are you at a point in your life where you need to start thinking about your career?

You may be a school leaver looking to establish a career path, unhappy with your current job or simply looking for a fresh start. If you have an interest in natural therapies or health and fitness, it’s a good idea to take the time to consider this rapidly expanding field as a dynamic and fulfilling career option.

Mainstream Career

Once considered ‘alternative’, natural or complementary therapies are now widely utilised and practised, and increasingly integrated and accepted by the mainstream – including the medical establishment. This is because there is a growing body of evidence to support the health benefits of these treatments. Look no further than your local hospital where nutritionists are on hand to offer advice and guidance on your diet – so you end up going home that much sooner. Massage is also widely used in the sporting arena for remedial and conditioning of top athletes, with studios for the rest of us on practically every street corner. If you are of the sporty persuasion, then a healthy and rewarding career as a sports and fitness specialist, personal trainer or sports coach beckons.

What Are My Job Prospects?

With an accredited Certificate, Diploma or Advanced Diploma from a reputable provider such as the Australasian College of Natural Therapies (ACNT) behind you the world is really your oyster. You could become anything you want in the health and wellbeing industry, including a herbalist, massage therapist, nutritionist, homeopath or counsellor to name a few. This could enable you to start your own business, join an established industry employer or go for ultimate flexibility and freelance.

How About Accreditation?

Accreditation is an important consideration, given that you want your potential employer to see your qualification as accredited rather than unaccredited. ACNT's courses are accredited by the New South Wales Government's Vocational Education and Training Accreditation Board (VETAB) as well as by the Federal Government and associations in Australia and abroad. It’s a good idea to check with your provider to ensure your course will be recognised by the industry when you start working in the field.

Where Can I Study?

Studying has come a long way in recent years and now many education providers offer on-campus, as well as distance learning, so you can fit your studies around your lifestyle. If you are committed to a full time classroom based environment, then the ACNT for example has two campuses in Sydney and Brisbane. Here you can benefit from the central locations and specialist facilities of these locations. Alternatively, if you need more flexibility then distance education is available, which takes place online in an electronic environment.

When Can I Start Studying?

This will depend on the course you wish to study, and whether you are considering classroom or distance learning. The best thing to do is contact the course adviser, who can fill you in on all the course details.
