Tania Siu is a registered health practitioner in Remedial massage therapy and traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) who graduated from the University of Western Sydney. She began her career as a massage therapist in the spa industry since 2000 and has developed particular interests in the area of musculoskeletal therapies. Tania believes that bodywork is a necessary component in maintaining good function of mental and physical health and to promote strength, flexibility and minimising injuries.

Tania’s holistic treatment approach incorporates Western and Eastern theoretical diagnosis. She specialises in trigger point therapy, myofascial release and acupuncture. Her treatment approach depends on individual needs, which may include hot/cold therapy, dry needling, cupping and stretching exercises. Tania treats a variety of conditions from acute to chronic pain, work related/sporting injuries, repetitive strain injuries (RSI), arthritis, headache and stress.

As a practitioner her goal is to restore muscle imbalances and accelerate healing rate by promoting circulation. Working alongside physiotherapy, Tania treats a number of cyclists and marathon runners both in sports performance enhancement and injury prevention. She is passionate about travelling and learning the variety of healthcare approaches each culture has to offer, in the past this has taken her career opportunities to international cruise lines and the Victorian ski resort. She enjoys keeping active from regular gym sessions, and plots around different ski resorts each year for her skiing activity.

Why Physiotherapy?

Physiotherapy is a 4 year university degree and a number of physiotherapists go on to complete a 2 year Masters degree and become titled Sports or Musculoskeletal Physiotherapists. Physiotherapists have always worked closely with the medical profession and we are bound by strict ethical guidelines laid down by our professional association and by the NSW Physiotherapists Registration Board.

Now about our physiotherapy philosophy and treatments. At ActivFit we believe that a thorough assessment followed by a hands-on manual therapy treatment, complemented by home stretches and exercises, offers the best evidence-based solution to musculoskeletal problems. I am also trained in acupuncture.

Finally, treatment costs are $85 for the initial consultation and $75 for follow-up consultations, which are 1/2 hour appointments. Most simple problems require only 2-4 consultations, with a follow-up after a month if necessary. Not all problems are simple though, and a longer term problem may require further visits to relieve the pain and ensure that all predisposing factors that led to the problem are sorted out.
