Debra is a practitioner with over 10 years experience and is qualified in many modalities including a Bachelor of Health Science in Naturopathy through the University of SA. Acuveda's Health Menu provides a wide range of therapies for you to choose from. Our philosophy at Acuveda is to keep treatments as simple and natural as possible. At your first session we will discuss your health history with you and advise you of the therapies we think are best suited to you. You may enjoy a combination of therapies or find you are more suited to a single therapy. We will work with you to find what works best for you. Our staff are always caring and compassionate and up to date with with ongoing training and education.
Acupuncture
We practice Traditional Chinese Acupuncture. Based on the theory of Chi that circulates through the body along Meridian pathways. We select points along these pathways and use needles to manipulate the Chi to restore balance to the body. When the Chi is balanced good health returns.
Acupuncture can be used to treat a myriad of symptoms or as a preventative to maintain good health. We suggest weekly or fortnightly treatments to treat most symptoms and monthly treatments as a preventative and to relax and rebalance.

Our practitioners use the highest grade quality single use disposable needles. Our needles are not coated with silicone. Our choice of needles ensures maximum patient comfort that is even suitable for children.
BioMesotherapy
A relatively new therapy to Australia. BioMesotherapy or Biopuncture as it is also known, was developed in Germany over a decade ago and there are now 70 million consultations performed throughout Europe per year. It is a combination of Acupuncture and Homoeopathy. Homeopathic Remedies are given orally at the start of the treatment and then a sterile saline solution is injected just under the skin into Acupuncture points. It is a very safe treatment and results are excellent. It works extremely well for pain management and may help to improve the healing time of sports injuries.
Chinese Medicine
Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) is a complete medical system that has been used to diagnose, treat and prevent illness for centuries. Based on the theory of Chi that circulates through the body along Meridian pathways. When the Chi is balanced good health returns. A TCM consult will include pulse and tongue diagnosis to determine the quality and strength of Yin and Yang - cold and hot, wet and dry, inner and outer, body and mind. A treatment will then be suggested to restore the balance of Chi. Treatments may include Acupuncture, Moxibustion, Cupping, Chinese Herbal Remedies, Dietary suggestions, or Massage.
Detox Programs
Detoxing is a bodily process that transforms health threatening toxic substances from our environment, diets and our own bodily systems into harmless substances that can be easily excreted from our bodies. Our body's main detoxification organs and systems are our liver, colon, kidneys, gall bladder, lungs, skin, lymph and blood. A detox program is aimed at helping the various bodily systems to rid the body of excess toxins that build up in our system over time.

Ear Candles
Ear Candling or its proper name Thermal Auricular Therapy is a pleasant and non-invasive treatment of the ears, used to treat a variety of conditions. It is an ancient and natural therapy handed down by many civilisations. It is believed that the Ancient Greeks used ear candles, initially probably for cleansing, purifying and healing on a spiritual basis, but much later on a purely physical basis. However, the practice reached the modern world via the native American Hopi Indians of North Arizona and became known as Hopi Ear Candles. The candles used at Acuveda are Biosun Hopi Ear Candles made on the basis of the old traditional formula originating from the Hopi Indians. The candles are made using quality ingredients including pure beeswax, honey extract and traditional herbs such as Sage, St John's Wort, Chamomile and pure essential oils.
Biosun Hopi Ear Candles may assist with:
- Cleaning out excessive or compacted wax in the ears
- Cleaning out yeast build up and dispelling fluid build up

Flower Remedies
Flower Remedies are a complementary therapy that have been used for centuries. They were used by the Ancient Egyptians and are also used by the Aboriginals. The best known Flower Remedies are the English Bach Flower Remedies. At Acuveda we use the Australian Bush Flower Remedies developed by Australian Naturopathy Ian White. We believe the Remedies from the country we live in are the most appropriate for us to use in our clinic. Flower Remedies are used to heal the emotions and health imbalances. They are very safe and are suitable for children, adults and pets.
Herbal Medicine
Plants have been used as a medicine worldwide since prehistoric times. The use of herbs became known as Herbalism. Today it is known as Herbal Medicine. There are various types of Herbal Medicine systems including; Chinese, Western, Ayurvedic and Shamanic. Some of our modern pharmaceuticals are still based on herbs, including aspririn, digitalis and opium.
Herbal Medicine at Acuveda includes the use of Chinese, Western and Ayurvedic Herbs. Most of the formulas we use are in tablet form, though we do still mix liquid formulas where the need arises. We also stock a range of Organic Herbal Teas that can be used to treat some milder complaints such as insomnia, digestive problems and stress. Herbal Medicine may be prescribed as part of a Naturopathic or Acupuncture consultation. At Acuveda we have a qualified Herbalist on staff.
Ionic Foot Detox Bath
A detox foot bath can help to improve your health by drawing out heavy metals and toxins through the numerous pores on the soles of the feet. Your body is constantly cleansing itself of toxins that result from the intake of foods, water and air, however, for most people toxins accumulate faster than the body can eliminate them. This is when detox programs and treatments such as Acuveda's Ionic Foot Detox Bath can be of benefit.
The treatment begins by placing the feet in a foot bath filled with warm water and sea salt. The foot bath contains an ionic coil that reacts with the salt to draw the toxins and impurities from the feet via the sweat glands. The water will gradually change colour during the 30 minute treatment. The colour will vary for each individual and can even be different at each session. At the end of the session we will pamper you with a sea salt foot scrub to remove any residue of toxins from your skin.
Does it really work?
The colour of the water will change regardless of whether the feet are immersed or not and will be a coppery colour. However, it is the nature of the water content that changes when the feet are present. The colour is unique and may range from brown to green or black and the texture of the water may become smelly, frothy, bubbly or flaky as the ions react with the toxins released in the sweat. A course of 3 sessions is recommended.
IVF Assistance
At Acuveda our therapists have over 15 years experience with fertility issues. We specialise in IVF assistance and have had great results. Our therapists are sympathetic to each individual case and we will work with you the best we can to fit in with your treatments. We understand that IVF can be stressful and we offer emotional support as well. IVF assistance may include Herbal Medicine, Naturopathy, Acupuncture and Nutritional Supplements. Studies have shown that Acupuncture can improve the outcomes of IVF treatments and this is our main focus. Ideally, treatments should begin at least 3 months before IVF starts, but it is still beneficial at any stage.
Natural Fertility Management
Fertility is an issue for most women at some stage in their life. Either they have too much of it when they don't want it or to little when they do. Natural Fertility Management (NFM) provides natural options to combat the many hormonal problems that arise and also for a natural form of contraception or for conscious conception. NFM will teach you to understand your body and it's cycles. Understanding your body's cycles can help you to make clear informed choices about all the alternatives and treatments that are available to you. NFM can be used as a primary method of contraception and is more effective than the Oral Contraceptive Pill. For couples wishing to conceive NFM can be used to pinpoint ovulation and the best times for conception. NFM can also be used in conjunction with IVF cycles.
