REMEDIAL MASSAGE
Remedial massage incorporates a variety of specialised techniques to locate and treat specific areas of deep muscle tension and musculoskeletal pain. Through assessment, to identify the original biomechanical dysfunction, hands on treatment to treat the specific muscles and relevant stretches, the length and flexibility of the muscle fibres is hoped to be restored.
RELAXATION MASSAGE
Relaxation massage is a gentle and smooth flowing massage aimed at calming the whole body by acting on the nervous system. This type of massage helps to reduce stress, improve circulation and range of movement, ease muscle tension and rejuvenate body and mind.
DEEP TISSUE
Deep Tissue massage is similar to relaxation massage however concentrates more on main areas of tension and pain. A stronger and deeper pressure is used to get into the deeper layers of muscles and connective tissues to loosen and lengthen the fibres and relieve the pain.
SPORTS MASSAGE
Pre and Post event sports massage involves using specific techniques to warm up and warm down any muscles that may be tense or taut through overuse and intense training. This type of massage may help at enhancing sporting performance, drain fatigue, promote flexibility and decrease the likelihood of injury.
CHINESE MASSAGE
Chinese Massage incorporates a variety of techniques such as rolling, rubbing, pushing, stretching and kneading with fingers, palms and elbows on acupressure points to unblock painful muscles, increase energy, promote relaxation and improve organ function. This is a dry massage, conducted over a sheet, no oil is used.
CUPPING
Cupping is an ancient Chinese method whereby glass cups are placed on the skin using heat. A flame is used to remove any air within the cup and is then placed on the area to be treated; this creates a vacuum under the cup causing the skin and superficial layers of muscle to become slightly raised underneath it. Cupping can be applied to certain areas affected by pain and aims at removing any stagnation in the body by increasing blood circulation so that qi (chi) can flow freely and is also effective in deep tissue repair. The cups can leave a dark red or purple mark on the skin which may last up to 5 to 10 days. This treatment can take up to 5 to 15 minutes.
