Pohaku Stone Massage is Hawaiian stone therapy and is heavily based on the Hawaiian Pohaku style of massage. We combine rhythmic and flowing forearm movements with the heated stones. My background in Shiatsu has also influenced the pressure points and meridians we focus on.
There are many other styles of Stone Therapy taught all over the world and, broadly speaking, the difference between each style is which type of massage it is based on (ie. Swedish, Sports, Hawaiian, etc......

The health benefits of a shiatsu massage can be dealing with lower back pain, shoulder tension, fatigue, anxiety, headaches, and various physical ailments. As I was mentioning before about working from the hara, be aware of your own body when you're working on your partner, that you're centered yourself, that you're not over-reaching, that you're coming from a place in the lower-abdomen called the "hara" .I will always have a hand on my partner here. It's called the "mother hand", it's sort of a centering, it's a reassurance to the person I'm working on that I'm always in contact with her. That's also established by a knee on the lower leg here, as I'm starting to work on the back. At first, I put two hands down here just to get connected with my partner.
