SERVICES

LIFE COACHING..... provides a system of professional mentoring, in both business and personal areas of life where there is a desire to unlock potential and achieve new goals.

My role as a Life Coach is to help people identify their goals, then to put into place and sustain the necessary actions to achieve those goals. Whether these goals are career, family, relationship or personally related, professional coaching provides support, motivation and focus to bring them into reality.

Even the most ambitious goals become a lot more achievable when people are consistently and effectively supported to sustain positive action in the direction of their realization.

Life Coaching sessions run for 1hour; they may be conducted weekly or fortnightly, over a period of 6 -12 weeks which may be extended by agreement, in certain circumstances. Sessions are usually face to face but may be equally well conducted by phone or internet.

LIFE CARE FACILITATION..... extends the scope of Life Coaching to offer a more holistic approach to goal setting. Such an approach addresses not only our material aspirations but also matters relating to psychological health and spirituality.

My role here is to facilitate the individual to accurately identify goals that are in accord with his/her own deep core values and initiate action that cares for all aspects of their personal and collective life. Such an approach looks to bring about a life that is well balanced, vibrant and deeply fulfilling in all aspects of the human experience.

As for Life Coaching, sessions run for 1hour; they are conducted weekly or fortnightly over a period of 6-12 weeks, which may be extended by agreement, in certain circumstances. I recommend that sessions are conducted face to face but may also be conducted by phone or internet.

COUNSELLING..... through a professional but interpersonal relationship counselling addresses the difficult circumstances that sometimes arise in individual lives.

As a counsellor I work with individuals, couples and families at all ages and stages of life, in order to help them reach a better understanding of themselves and find new and more productive ways to rise to the challenges that confront them. These challenges may present in response to a variety of specific life situations which may include,

  • Anxiety, depression, illness
  • Times of changing circumstance and stress
  • Maturing and ageing
  • Grief, loss and separation
  • Traumatic circumstances
  • Abusive relationships
  • Relationship/Family discord

Sessions are usually conducted weekly and may be 1hr - 1hr 30mins in length, depending on the number of people involved in the session and the issues being discussed. The duration of the counselling relationship is will vary and will usually be approximately 12 weeks which may be extended by agreement, in certain circumstances. Sessions are conducted face to face in the main but some proportion of phone/internet contact may also be accommodated in certain circumstances.

PSYCHOTHERAPY..... extends the scope of counselling to address the concerns of individuals who experience difficulty not in response to a single given situation but also in a more general sense, permeating various aspects of their lives. Psychotherapy aims to identify and address patterns of relating to self and others that may be experienced as materially or psychologically painful or destructive.

Here, my role is to provide informed support, safety and caring which allows the client to unravel the roots of such destructive tendencies and find a level of understanding that transcends the destructive mode previously employed. Sometimes this is achieved simply in a conversational mode or else through careful examination in the light of related archetypal and mythological themes. Such themes may become more apparent through the use of active imagination, sandplay therapy, psycho-dramatic technique or other forms of expression such as writing, painting or movement.

Typically, weekly sessions will suffice but greater frequency may be desirable in cases where a greater level of intensity is evident. Sessions will generally be approximately 1hr to 1hr 30mins long and the overall timeframe for therapy will be a matter of individual assessment and negotiation. Sessions are conducted face to face and may be augmented by interim telephone or internet contact.

AN INTEGRATIVE APPROACH IN REALITY IT IS NOT USUALLY POSSIBLE TO SEPARATE COACHING, COUNSELLING AND PSYCHOTHERAPY FROM EACH OTHER. EACH IS A PARTICULAR ORIENTATION WITHIN INTEGRATIVE THERAPY AND ALL THREE PROGRESS WELL IN A SEAMLESS FASHION AND ALONGSIDE OF EACH OTHER.

FOR THIS REASON, IT IS AS WELL TO CONSIDER THE OVERALL IMPLICATIONS OF ALL THREE APPROACHES IN YOUR PARTICULAR CIRCUMSTANCES AND I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THAT YOU SHOULD TAKE THE OPPORTUNITY THAT THE INTRODUCTORY APPOINTMENT OFFERS BEFORE MAKING A DECISION.

AN INTRODUCTORY APPOINTMENT LASTS FOR 30mins AND ALLOWS SUFFICIENT TIME FOR US TO MEET EACHOTHER, ASSESS OUR SUITABILTY TO WORK TOGETHER AND DISCUSS A POSSIBLE FRAMEWORK IN WHICH THAT WORK CAN PROCEED.

The psychological therapies already discussed above are complimented by a range of BODYWORK modalities.to:

  • LOOSEN THE TENSIONS THAT HINDER EMOTIONAL RELEASE
  • PROMOTE HEALTHY ALIGNMENT WITH THE WISDOM OF THE BODY.

Each approach is subtly different to respond to specific individuals and circumstances, providing:

  • NURTURING
  • RELAXATION
  • PAIN RELIEF

BOWEN THERAPY… is not considered massage but rather a non invasive muscle release technique consisting of a series of gentle cross fibre moves. Bowen Therapy brings about long term benefits by balancing and stimulating energy flows, resulting in a deep sense of overall relaxation. There are regular pauses between the series of gentle moves allowing the body sufficient pause to reset and heal itself. Working at the level of the origin of the misalignment or discomfort, be it physical or emotional, Bowen Therapy brings about long lasting improvements and can be of benefit to a wide range of problems of physiological and/or psychological origin.

A treatment usually requires the client to lie on a bed or treatment couch and can be performed through light clothing. Sessions can last from 30 minutes to an hour. In most cases 2-3 treatments are required with an interval of 5-10 days between each visit.

MASSAGE..... I offer a combination of Swedish and Remedial techniques with an emphasis on nurturing and relaxation. I do not hold with the idea that a massage needs to be harsh or painful in order to be effective. Quite to the contrary, my experience tells me that if discomfort or worse still pain is induced, muscles invariably contract to protect themselves from further assault.

I find that a gentle, full body massage, utilising the healing potentials of essential oils, nurture and relaxation is not only more enjoyable but it also brings about more far reaching and longer lasting results.

The massage I offer typically lasts between 1.30mins – 2hrs and is highly recommended on a fortnightly or monthly basis, as part of an on-going Life Care approach.
