Acupuncture for Stress and Anxiety
Now and then all of us will experience Stress. This feeling is a normal response to the day to day events in our lives. As long as we are healthy and the stress is short-lived, we usually recover from it without too much wear and tear to our general health. However, when the stress occurs too often and for too long, our emotional and physical health begins to suffer.
With a constant state of stress or anxiety Cortisol, the body’s stress hormone elevates, blood pressure increases and our immune function is suppressed. Over time, these symptoms become worse and can develop into anxiety, depression, digestive problems, fatigue and tension headaches.
According to Chinese medical theory, stress, anxiety, depression or any other strong emotion will interrupt the smooth flow of energy throughout the body. Energy flows through our body like a network of roads, almost like a highway system. Stress, anger or any other intense emotion will act like a traffic jam and block the free flow of energy in the body. This will lead to pain, tightness, tight shoulder/neck muscles, headaches, the ability to sleep, pain conditions, elevated blood pressure and can also aggravate already troublesome health conditions.
Through acupuncture, these energy blockages will be addressed and the free flow of energy will be re-established. Therefore it will alleviate not only the symptoms of stress and anxiety, but the stress and anxiety itself too. Acupuncture also releases natural pain-killing chemicals in the brain, called endorphins. Acupuncture improves circulation for blood throughout the body, which oxygenates the tissues and cycles out cortisol and other waste chemicals. The calming nature of acupuncture also decreases heart rate, lowers blood pressure and relaxes the muscles.
I am looking forward to see you at the clinic
Anne
