The No More Cravings Acupuncture Treatment Program
• There are currently three theories as to why smoking is so addictive and hard to Quit.
1 – Nicotine causes the release of Dopamine in the brain which causes an immediate pleasurable reward.

Acupuncture Can Increase Male and Female Fertility
What Infertility Conditions Can Acupuncture Treat?
Acupuncture treatment is particularly helpful for males and females who have a functional problem rather than a structural reason for their infertility (an example of a structural infertility would be damaged fallopian tubes). Both males and females with functional infertility may benefit from acupuncture.
What are the Benefits of Acupuncture for Females and Males?
While many incorrectly believe that females are mainly responsible for childless wombs, the fact is that the underlying cause of infertility is about 50:50 for males and females. Acupuncture can be used to increase sperm production and testicular function in men, and can regulate the endocrine function and balance hormones in women. Acupuncture treatment stimulates organ function and nourishes and harmonises the meridians or energy pathways of the body. It is essential that the patients’ general health and overall wellbeing is addressed during the treatment program. Discussion with the patient educates them to ensure that all external causes of bodily disharmony have been removed or improved. Harmful environmental and occupational risk factors are discussed. For example mobile phones stored on the front hip region or pocket can reduce sperm count by up to 40%. A discussion involves determining the quality of their diet and daily water intake and the use of caffeine, alcohol or recreational drugs. For example licorice consumption by males reduces their testosterone levels and subsequently their sperm count. On the other hand females with Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS) are strongly advised to take licorice because it reduces their testosterone levels, which are normally elevated in PCOS sufferers.
How Does Acupuncture Work?
Acupuncture treatments regulate many different systems including nervous and immunological systems. Blood flow to the reproductive organs is increased, and hormone levels are stabilized by the intrinsic homeostatic mechanisms of the body. Subsequently, hormonal balance, ovarian function and endometrial nutrition and blood supply in women is improved.
Studies have shown that a course of acupuncture treatments can reduce the number of structural abnormalities in sperm so that sperm morphology is improved. Sperm production in men is increased and the overall number of normal sperm is improved. Further, studies have shown that acupuncture also improves the sperm motility so that they can swim longer and further which greatly enhances the likelihood of them fertilizing the egg.
Acupuncture treatment has been scientifically verified to markedly improve the success rate of couples undergoing other fertility treatments. Numerous controlled studies have confirmed that acupuncture increases the overall success rate of pregnancy in women that are undergoing Assisted Reproductive Technology (ART) procedures including Artificial Insemination (AI), Intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI) and in vitro fertilisation treatments (IVF). A major reason that the acupuncture treatment is so beneficial is that it helps women to stay more relaxed and less stressed during the emotionally stressful and invasive fertility treatment process.
What is Involved during Acupuncture Treatment for Infertility?
Numerous techniques and procedures are utilized by trained acupuncturists, and include acupuncture needling, laserpuncture, cupping, moxibustion, electroacupuncture, dietary advice, herbal therapy, exercise programs, and general lifestyle advice. The acupuncturist will determine a combination of these according to the individual’s specific emotional, medical and physiological condition.
If Possible, Natural is Best
On many occasions when I have been treating a couple to improve their success rate for an upcoming ART procedure …. Guess what? They fall pregnant naturally. Not to mention the massive savings made on the ART procedures, the couple is spared the invasiveness, stress and pharmaceuticals associated with ART procedures. I only wish this wonderful outcome would happen more often. While ART procedures are a wonderful blessing for countless couples, taking a little longer to conceive naturally is the preferred option as the offspring will be more healthy.
Acupuncture Treatment Course to Optimise the Success Rate for Treating Infertility
Acupuncture treatment for infertility is most successful when the couple are both treated for at least 3 menstrual cycles before attempting the ART procedure. It is very beneficial for the woman to have an acupuncture booster treatment before and after embryo transfer or any other ART procedure. After successful ART procedures weekly acupuncture treatments on women for the first 12 weeks increases the likelihood of the pregnancy going full term and reduces the likelihood of miscarriage from occurring.
After the first trimester, usually a monthly acupuncture treatment suffices. At term, 2-5 acupuncture treatments to correct breeched babies is 80% successful and 2-5 acupuncture induction treatments are usually successful if bubby is hesitating to enter the world. There are minimal risks associated with acupuncture for fertility treatment when it is performed by a fully qualified practitioner, aware of the “forbidden points”.
What Sets Me Apart from Other Practitioners to Improve Results
Based on 30 years of practice and after attending numerous workshops and seminars and reading many books dedicated to the treatment of infertility, I have developed a 7 page questionnaire for patients to complete. I believe there are seven major Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) pathologies responsible for infertility. Data from the questionnaire is processed to determine the major pathologies that apply for each individual. Based on their major pathologies ascertained, and which week of their menstrual cycle they present for treatment, I have determined the best acupoints for that individuals’ pathology for that specific week. This improves the consistency of treatment protocol and point selection chosen for each patient and the subsequent success rate.
I use my AcuGraph 4 on almost every patient to ensure they receive the optimal treatment to balance their 12 meridian imbalances. (See information on the AcuGraph 4 below.)
Frequently Asked Questions
Q - I am rather interested in your acupuncture for infertility. My husband and I are embarking on our IVF journey and have read quite a lot about how good acupuncture can be to help our chances of success. I have PCOS. Can you please let me know what sort of success rates it has and also the cost??
A - Of all the conditions I treat, infertility is the hardest to estimate success rate figures, due to the large diversity of reasons for the infertility e.g. PCOS, endometriosis, blocked fallopian tube(s), low sperm count or poor sperm morphology etc.
I believe that the main reason that many acupuncture patients fail to fall pregnant through natural means or through ART procedures is that they stop coming for acupuncture treatment too soon, wishing to have fallen pregnant sooner. I do understand their frustration and concerns about the cost of ongoing treatment.
CASE STUDIES
A recent success of mine involving PCOS involved a woman that had not menstruated for 120 days since her last medically-forced period. She had been trying to fall pregnant for 6 years and been through 3 unsuccessful IVF cycles. She wanted me to help her fall pregnant ASAP. Where was my wand when I needed it? She was working long hours in a stressful job. I did pull out my expensive gold needles and used a treatment that caused a period within days. She reduced her work load markedly as I suggested. It took 24 treatments before she fell pregnant naturally, after she had booked in for another IVF cycle, which she took pleasure in cancelling. She now has a very beautiful daughter. At my current treatment price it cost $2,215 to conceive naturally, which is very reasonable compared to the cost of the invasive chemical-ridden IVF procedure priced at about $10,000. During the acupuncture treatment many other health issues were also being improved at the same time.
Another patient with PCOS fell pregnant after 3 acupuncture treatments with the assistance of IVF. I have determined 2 extremely essential nutrients that are very important for PCOS treatment. While they are not readily available, I do keep a supply for patients with PCOS.
Another patient with severe endometriosis, adhesions in the left ovary, an endometrioma and ovarian cysts had 3 unsuccessful IVF cycles in 2009 / 2010. She was evaluated as having low ovarian reserve, and likely to reach menopause in 4-5 years. She is only 30 years old. She started acupuncture treatment and then had 2 major operations to remove the endometriosis. After 18 acupuncture treatments, and while her work load is full-on and her life still quite stressful she had an IVF procedure that finally was successful.
Other patients of mine having difficulty falling pregnant for long periods of time due to various medical conditions have fallen pregnant naturally after between 3 and 10 acupuncture treatments.
One patient who had booked in for IVF and then had acupuncture treatment with me to help with the IVF procedure, fell pregnant NATURALLY after only 3 treatments. How I wish this was the norm.
It is preferable to have a weekly treatment for 3 cycles (3 months in the absence of regular cycles). The initial treatment costs $145 and subsequent treatments cost $90 before 5 pm and $100 after 5 pm. I am covered by all health insurers. Treatment for the male is preferred and I suggest many nutrients that greatly assist with male fertility.

Acupuncture Point Injection Therapy (APIT) is a modern Acupuncture Technique in which a small amount of isotonic saline solution (Sodium Chloride) is injected into acupuncture points and painful trigger points surrounding the painful joint or region of the body.
