SERVICES

Welcome to Aqua-Moves Aquatic Physiotherapy

Physiotherapists working exclusively in Hydrotherapy

In warm water the body is supported, movement is easier and pain is less.

Toni Fuller and Lisa Gilkes are both highly skilled physiotherapists who, over the last 10 years, have combined their wealth of experience to develop a unique treatment approach in water. They look closely at how your whole body is moving and use very specific exercises that give you a sense of how to move with greater ease and efficiency. When all parts of your body are working well together, exercises for stability, strength and mobility are much more effective.

    Qualifications:

Toni Fuller has a Diploma of Physiotherapy from the UK. On moving to Australia she established a private practice in Melbourne which she ran successfully for 20 years. She graduated as a Feldenkrais Practitioner in 1991 which has strongly influenced her work since that time. Toni then relocated to Queensland and continued to work in the private sector as well as community health and rehabilitation. Aqua~Moves was established with Lisa Gilkes in 2001. Although Toni works only part-time in the water now, she is still very active in the development and teaching of the Aqua~Moves Approach, taking on more of a consultancy role. She also has a land-based Feldenkrais practice in Kirra, QLD called “Movement Matters”.

Lisa Gilkes graduated with a Bach. of Appl.Sc. in Physiotherapy in 1984. Since that time she has had a variety of private practice and hospital experience and has worked as a subject convener and lecturer for the School of Physiotherapy and Exercise Science at Griffith University on the Gold Coast. She continues to teach casually at Griffith University and was the Queensland Representative for the Aquatic Group's National Committee from 2006-2009. The treatment of her clients and teaching the Aqua~Moves Approach is now her main focus.
