Benefits Of Aromatherapy

Aromatherapy is a holistic treatment incorporating mind, body and spirit. Essential oils used in Aromatherapy are for overall health, wellbeing and pleasure. Each essential oil has many uses that can affect both body and mind in more ways than one. They are absorbed through the skin, which then takes them throughout the blood stream and all around the body.

The essential oil blend for an aromatherapy massage is prepared according to the physical and emotional needs of the individual, who is being treated as a whole and not just by symptoms alone.

All the systems of the body gain benefit from aromatherapy and a massage can do the following:-
-

  • Increase metabolism
  • Speed up the healing process
  • Enhance the removal of toxins in the body
  • Improve digestion
  • Improve skin tone
  • Improve circulation of blood and lymphatic system
  • Aid relaxation by calming the nervous system
  • Increase muscle and joint mobility, reduce aches, pains, spasms and stiffness
  • Relieve mental and physical tiredness

Essential Oils & How They Work

Essential oils contain the active ingredients of a plant in a highly concentrated and potent form. The fragrance and character of each oil are individual, as are its therapeutic properties and the effects they have on the individual. Essential oils are natural, volatile substances that evaporate readily and quickly, releasing their aroma into the air. Their tiny molecules allow them to penetrate the skin easily and work into the body by mixing with the fatty tissue.

As these tiny highly volatile essences evaporate, they are also inhaled therefore entering the body via millions of sensitive cells that line the nasal passages. These send messages straight to the brain and affect the emotions by working on the limbic system, which also controls the major functions of the body.

The chemicals in the essential oils unleash the body’s ability to heal. They are carried to all parts of the blood, after which they are excreted through the lungs and in the urine. After a treatment, the essential oil remains in the body for 3-4 hours, activating the healing process, which can continue for 2-3 weeks. Essential oils are able to influence all aspects of the body’s functions, from tissues to organs, to body fluids and cells, as well as the emotional state and spiritual aspects of the individual.

Essential Oils & Aromatherapy

Aromatherapy treats both mind and body, working mainly on the nervous system and is able to relax and stimulate. When it is used in massage, the essential oils penetrate the body through the skin and are also inhaled as the treatment progresses. While the techniques and strokes of massage can ease pain or tension from stiff and aching muscles, give sluggish circulation a boost or eliminate toxins, at the same time the nurturing touch of hands on the body soothes away mental stress and restores emotional balance.

The use of essential oils in Aromatherapy can help to alleviate specific symptoms, but can also help to promote a more balanced and healthy lifestyle. There is less chance of succumbing to everyday illnesses such as colds, or suffering from the effects of stress. A balanced state of mind promotes vitality and a better ability of coping with potentially difficult events or situations. Essential oils can also stimulate the immune system, avoiding the run down feeling, which can lead to flu like symptoms or general weariness.

Aromatherapy Massage

An aromatherapy massage with essential oils is very powerful and aids penetration into the body to treat problem areas. Aromatherapy massage combines the benefits of being extremely therapeutic with the healing properties of essential oils and is an excellent way to achieve ideal health and wellbeing. It can be very relaxing or very stimulating, depending on the oils used and it is an effective way to relieve stress, anxiety and tension. The essential oil blend for the aromatherapy massage is prepared according to the physical and emotional needs of the individual. As the individual is being treated as a whole and not just by symptoms, a blend of up to three essential oils is usual chosen.

The effects of aromatherapy massage are enormous on physical, emotional and spiritual levels and combine the balancing properties of essential oils with the benefits of touch. All the systems of the body gain from this treatment.

Psychologically, aromatherapy massage promotes a wonderful feeling of lightness and wellbeing. It can be a valuable gift to a friend, as it not only soothes the mind and body, but it has many other benefits.

The complete sequence of the massage alone takes approximately 1 hour, however if you have limited time, you can choose an area of the body in which you specifically require treatment. It might be the back, face, hands, feet, legs or arms. The environment in which your massage is conducted is comfortable and relaxing, to maximise the therapeutic quality.

Option: Therapeutic/Swedish Massage is also available as an alternative to Aromatherapy Massage.

Appointments & Home Recommendations

First step in receiving an aromatherapy treatment is to contact my practice and make an appointment time and discuss any concerns or questions you may have.

When your appointment time comes, a full medical history consultation is conducted to assess how your massage or treatment will progress.

I will then explain what is involved and what may be expected. Your massage or treatment is then carried out.

Afterwards, you will be asked for feedback and general information on how you are feeling and once again if there are any concerns or questions.

Home Recommendations are offered on completion of your consultation, so you can continue to treat yourself at home (this may include taking a bath with essential oils, or using a blend for muscle aches and pains that I have made for you). This is a great way to maintain your health between appointments.

It is highly recommended for overall health and wellbeing that aromatherapy treatments are conducted on a regular basis. Usually appointments are recommended at least every 4-6 weeks.

**NOTE: Please feel free at any time to contact me via phone, SMS or email for advice or with any questions you may have – I am always happy to help.

TESTIMONIALS

I visited Jody Freckleton of Aroma Relax suffering from extreme jaw pain.

The aromatherapy massage was instrumental in uncovering the real cause of my jaw discomfort. The use of specific aromatherapy essential oils generated a swelling in my neck, which turned out to be a massive dental abscesses. Had it not been for this 'swelling reaction', the cause and consequent treatment of the dental infection may have been unnecessarily prolonged and even more painful.

Therefore, I am extremely grateful to Jody whom I found to be a very caring, professional and competent practitioner. I have no hesitation in recommending Jody to anyone who wants to achieve better health and wellbeing.

We came across Jody’s contact details whilst browsing the internet for a massage therapist in our local area. Shehani made contact with her and arranged for the first consultation back in late 2007 and we have been visiting her regularly since.

Jody provides a detailed evaluation of her clients and their needs. At the first visit we explained of our requirements from her as an Aromatherapist and since then she has been providing a great service meeting our needs and we enjoy our sessions very much.

We have used her services on Swedish massage and Aromatherapy massage and are happy to note that both of us feel relaxed at the end of the session. We have found her therapies to be quite calming, relaxing and taking the stress and tension out of your body. This has assisted us in revitalising our tired bodies and to maintain good health at all times.

Jody conducts her services in a professional manner and respects client confidentiality and we have no hesitation in recommending her services.

I have been seeing Jody for approx 2 years now - and what I wish to say is that Jody is a very pleasant individual and makes you feel very relaxed and comfortable at all times.

Her caring nature and concern is very evident.

Jody is extremely professional in her approach and always makes sure that her client receives the exact time of massage every time you visit.

Her special talent & skills in the massage will leave you invigorated, nourished & rejuvenated - just as she has done so many times for my overworked body.

I take the opportunity to highly recommend Jody to anyone wishing to experience and enjoy a wonderful treatment by a very competent therapist.

Amy's testimonial: "I felt happy after my massage. It felt nice and smooth. I felt relaxed. My oils make me feel happy." Amy - 6 yrs - after treatment for anxiety.

Kim's testimonial: "Jody's amazing massage treatments with essential oils are not just for relaxation...which of course is fantastic - they assist in your whole well being. I feel much better: physically and emotionally. I particularly enjoy the hands and feet massage...and love the facial clay mask." Kim - 39 yrs - treated for shoulder pain, anxiety and relaxation purposes.

Aromatherapy is very different to other types of massage. I have had many different types of massage and I honestly feel that aromatherapy compliments my body the most. It allows me to relax completely through mind and body. The use of aromatherapy oils provides such an individualistic approach, tapping into various conditions, whether it be as a calming effect or a stimulation one.

I feel that Jody offers a very personalised service. She has a very caring nature that allows me to feel at ease. Having moved to Queensland recently, I make sure that I book in whenever I come back to Victoria. I cannot find someone up here who offers such a wholistic, skilled service like Jody. She is passionate about her work and truly cares about offering a quality service to the client. She wants you to feel good afterwards.... and you do! I only wish she lived in Queensland!
