Balance & Achievement

Don't let pain rule your life..

You deserve an active, happy, fun filled, exciting life.

Why wait another day?

Help is just a phone call away

Greetings and welcome to Balance & Achievement. My name is Kevin Eickenloff.

I have 25 years experience in the Health, Fitness and Wellness industry, working firstly part time for 12 years with Sporting Teams as a Sports Trainer II/Massage Therapist and now for the past 13 years Full time as a Remedial Therapist in my clinic at Norman Park and earlier at a Multi-discipline Sports Medicine Clinic.

My work is similar to that of a Physiotherapist. I take a medical history and discuss why you came to see me, then I perform a free assessment on the client . This done by checking Range Of Movement, looking for restrictions, pain and general body structural problems. We then discuss and agree a treatment protocol. Then the cause and not just the symptoms of the injuries, body aches, pains, migraines, soft tissue injuries etc are treated. We then discuss, rehabilitation and life style changes to remedy the situation.

I spend the whole session time with my client, doing "hands on" work and not leaving you hooked up to a machine while I work on another client.

I am a Complimentary Therapist working in both Eastern and Western Medical Regimes.

My motto is Balance leads to Achievement

    SERVICES
    Massage
    • Remedial

    • Remedial Massage is, as the name implies, aimed at fixing the problem, and I may use a range of massage techniques to address these issues including many of those listed below.

    • Deep Tissue

    • Deep Tissue Massage is performed by working deeply on the body tissues to break up tissue adhesion's to enable the body to return to its normal range of movement. This can be painful, but when performed skillfully and correctly, the pain is less intense. This is just one form of myofascial release and also works deeply on the muscles.

    • Deep Muscle, Tendon and Ligament Therapy

    • Deep Muscle, Tendon and Ligament Therapy is a type of massage where the fibres of the muscles are worked on, across the fibres at a 45 degree angle,in a 4 way cross pattern to really open up the fibres and release the restrictions in the tissues. Tendons and Ligaments restrictions are also removed by similar and other techniques.

    • Connective Tissue

    • Connective Tissue Massage is another form of Deep Tissue Massage in which adhesions are separated by stretching and pressure. This releases toxins into the bloodstream where they are processed by the liver, as they are in Deep Tissue or Deep Muscle Therapy.

    • Sports

    • Sports Massage is performed in one of three ways. Pre Event where the athlete is massaged prior to the event, optimally about 30 minutes before competition and is done to stimulate the tissues and increase the blood flow. In a situation, where the athlete is very anxious, the sedating techniques would be employed.
Post event massage is performed after the event and is designed to rid the body of toxic build up and relax the soft tissues.
Maintenance massage uses cross fibre techniques to open up the muscles and then longitudinal deeper strokes to flush the muscles and increase the blood flow, oxygenating bringing nutrients to the cells and tissues.

    • Swedish

    • Swedish Massage is a very relaxing form of massage using gentle stoking in a rhythmic motion. Like all forms of massage it increases blood, and lymph flow, and increase vitality and a sense of well being.

    • Oriental

    • Oriental Massage is a form of massage designed to revitalise the body by using acupressure on points along the meridians (energy pathways), stretching and mobilising limbs as well as massaging the body.

    • Lymphatic Drainage

    • Lymphatic Drainage is used to help the lymphatic system of the body which has two mains functions
      1. Detoxify the body
      2. Provide the Immune functions of the body.
This is a very gentle form of massage using slow wiping strokes. Unlike the circulatory system which has a pump (the heart) to push the blood around the body, Lymph is moved from the extremities (toes, hands and head) to the heart via one way valves by muscle contractions, respiration and pressure on the tissues.

    • Aromatherapy

    • Aromatherapy massage is a gentle form of massage similar to Swedish massage using essentials oils to treat various conditions and enhance wellbeing. Acupressure may be employed during the massage to enhance the effects.

      Structural Balancing

The body's structure is made up bones, muscles, organs and held together by fascia or connective tissue which is continuous from head to feet and then covered by skin to make us look presentable. Muscles move bones and the result is movement, as in walking, lifting the arms
or legs or both etc. When muscles are weak on one side of the body and strong on the other side, we get imbalances and this can result in bending to one side or the other, or tissues can be restricted, giving similar results. Structural balancing is about bringing the body back into its correct position or balance. This can also result in correcting the body, mind and spirit i.e. this can result in a very holistic balancing for some people.

      Sports Injury Management

Sports and other injuries are assessed, evaluated and treated and then a rehabilitation plan is established so that the injury will heal correctly and normal function will be returned to the client.
