Rebecca graduated from Victoria University after completing a 5 year double degree in Clinical Science followed by a Masters in Osteopathy. She’s originally from Melbourne and is loving her tree-change life here in Tassie.

DR. EMMA BIRD
M.H.Sc. [Osteo], B.Sc [Clin], M.A.O.A

Registered Osteopath

Emma graduated from Victoria University with a double degree in Clinical Science and a Masters in Osteopathy. She recently made the wise decision to move from Melbourne to Tassie for a tree-change to replace Dr Vin Cahill.

Emma’s philosophy is based on identifying the cause of musculoskeletal pain and ensuring that each patient understands and manages their condition as well as they are able through further education, exercise, rehabilitation and work ergonomics.

Her attentions are on helping people with ongoing neck and shoulder tension and headaches. With her previous experience as a remedial massage therapist with the Australian Ballet and sports athletes in Melbourne she has developed very strong hands and has a knack for releasing those tight knots.

Emma is currently undertaking her Diploma in Clinical Pilates with Polestar International and is very excited by her new appointment at Launceston Osteopathy and her relocation to Launceston, where she can continue to chase her passions for good health, great cooking and the Tasmanian outdoors.

Both Dr Emma Bird and Dr. Rebecca Burns (Osteopath) are passionate about healthcare and have a holistic approach to treatment and ongoing preventative care.

A treatment at Launceston Osteopathy Clinic is very comprehensive and holistic:
Osteopathy specialises in the assessment, diagnosis and management of musculoskeletal pain through the application of hands-on techniques; a drug-free, non-invasive manual medicine.

Its aim is to positively affect the body’s nervous, circulatory and lymphatic systems; system balance for overall good health and wellbeing.

The osteopathic philosophy states that the body is capable of healing itself – and maintaining a healthy state – if barriers such as structural problems and poor posture are removed.

  • A thorough case history is undertaken to discover the real cause and maintaining factors related to your presenting problem
  • Examination of relevant areas to determine any compensation patterns to ensure long lasting pain relief
  • Treatment is always tailored to suit you as an individual.
In particular we have had great success treating the following conditions:

  • acute and chronic lower back pain
  • neck and shoulder pain
  • pregnancy related pain
  • pelvic instability discomfort
  • headaches and migraines
  • sciatica
  • coccyx pain
  • chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS)
  • preparation for childbirth
  • post-natal problems

  • repetitive strain injuries (RSI)
  • stress
  • arthritis
  • postural issues
  • digestive complaints
  • abdominal pain
  • asthma and breathing problems
  • Sporting Injuries – Tennis Elbow, Rotator Cuff injuries
    and importantly: preventative care.
