"Medication played a role in my recovery, when I embraced both western and complimentary medicine together, and addressed my nutrition requirements, I noticed a more powerful and pronounced difference. I am sharing my story, hoping to inspire people to make their own choices."

ABOUT US

My journey to wellness started in 2004 when I was diagnosed with MS.

After intermittent attacks with a paralysis in hospital, I have since dedicated my time to finding answers about why I became unwell, unravelling the complexities of MS and Autoimmune Disease.

After a debilitating MS attack in 2009 I was given a 50/50 chance of walking again.

It was a time of great loss and a time of true awakening for me.

However with the assistance of a wonderful team of Doctrors, Neuro Physiotherapists and Kinesiology Therapy, I have made a full recovery. Once I addressed my nutrition I noticed a profound difference. I now wish to share my journey back to wellness.

As a result I recovered more quickly than any of the doctors imagined.

With the combination of hard work, a great team of Therapists and supportive friends helping me believe that I could do it, I ran in 6 weeks.

My recovery prompted me to change my fast paced career in the Fashion Industry and to go back to school to study this life changing therapy. I now have a Diploma in Sports Kinesiology.

I have now dedicated my life to share my journey back to wellness.

A key to my recovery I believe was transitioning from a state of illness and suffering, to a place of wellness and happiness.

I was inspired to call my clinic Bend Like Bamboo because once I began to stop fighting back all the setbacks that came in my life, and learned to bend with the change that was inevitable anyway, I stopped suffering and the magic began.

To "BEND LIKE BAMBOO" is to be flexible with the constant change that is, omitting suffering, leading one to discover the recipe for happiness.

How I hope to be able to help you?

Together in sessions we address the emotional stresses that come with living with illness, something that is not so easy to do on your own at a time when life is hard and you feel stuck, defeated, depressed and sick.

I can teach you the skills I learned along the way that helped me achieve this and give you the tools to make this important transition for yourself.

It is in this better state of mind, that you will learn how to control it and get your life back again, and ultimately your health.

SERVICES

Kinesiology

Kinesiology is like Physical Psychology.

We have all felt the connection between our brains and our bodies; when we are emotionally down we describe ourselves as “feeling flat” and when we are at our most positive we describe ourselves as “full of energy”.

This link is because the brain controls and dictates all of our functions, like a computer.

But with injuries, emotional blocks, illnesses and stress that often occur in our lives, this computer is prone to getting a few bugs in the software and becomes out of balance.

Kinesiology looks at the mind.

When you address mental health and emotions it can be essentially like turning the tap off at the cause, as physical stress has an emotional link, and can be an end result of you not dealing with an emotion that you've buried or avoided.

We address emotional blocks on a subconscious level via the muscles of the body that are linked to meridians and organs of the body.

90% of our brain capacity stems from the subconscious part of the brain, which is in charge of our memories and past experiences.

It is from these memories and experiences that our core beliefs, behaviours and habits and formed.

It is this subconscious part of the brain that we access as kinesiologists, via the integrity of the muscles. Your muscles are connected to your brain via the Nervous System and run through multiple meridians in Traditional Chinese Medicine.

Using the muscles as a biofeedback tool and accessing this important part of the brain, we can then understand what imbalances might need to be corrected, thus rewiring the bugs in the software and restoring balance in the body again.

Kinesiology can access blocked emotions and limiting fear-based beliefs, stored in your body, subconscious brain and nervous system.

It is here that we must address the imbalances that may have occurred for a very long time. These fear based beliefs and blocked emotions that are not serving you in your life are interfering with your health, thoughts, emotions, what you attract in your life, achieving your dreams and more importantly they are holding you back from your path to finding wellness again.

The Protocol

In any Autoimmune Disease one must review the nutritional requirements for the brain and Mitochondria to achieve optimal function in order to restore health.

Dr Terry Wahls, a Neurologist and Professor of Medicine at The University of Iowa USA, shared her research that allowed her to recover from Secondary Progressive MS.

It was a game changer in Amanda's recovery. Once Amanda addressed her nutrition and focused on nourishing the mitochondria, she noticed a profound difference in her recovery.

Taking a balanced approach, Amanda believes a number of things in combination has allowed her to maintain outstanding results for over 7 years now.

That is what led her to team up with Damian Brown, together we collectively combine all of our research and personal experience of recovery from Autoimmune Diseases.

Public Speaking

As an MS Ambassador for MS Limited Australia my role is to raise awareness about MS in the community and simply educate, motivate and advocate.

I hope to make a difference in people’s lives and help others deal with managing the symptoms of MS.
I speak at various events with the hope to inspire people with my story of loss and triumph, by spreading my message that living a happier healthy life is possible and creates magic in your life.

I share my lessons learned along the way and educate others about my research and my journey back to wellness.

"While twenty-something and with the intention of steering a fast paced, high profile professional career in the fashion industry, this multi-talented young woman’s life changed tune. It took just ten days for this dynamic young woman's body to almost completely shut down. Left sided paralysis left this normally very focused and independent career driven young woman, scared and without the ability to lift her left arm and leg."
