A ‘60 MINUTE HOLIDAY’

The importance of ‘taking a break’ is becoming more recognised in our busy, specialised society. Doing the same things, the same way, all the time does not produce happy, balanced minds and bodies. There is nothing new or profound in this way of thinking but the opportunity for taking breaks is quickly being removed from our life schedules.

It only takes a moment to re-connect

The service that I offer is:

An individual approach to healing - One that is based on 'your' circumstances for arriving at my clinic. I will listen to your story and observe the physical symptoms you are experiencing - be it pain, postural, injury or of course you may just feel like a massage.

Through 15 years in professional practice I have developed a more intuitive approach to treatment that does not disregard other aspects of life that greatly affect our being - such as energy, confidence and emotion. The amount of treatment required is decided by your input, your response and what 'you' feel works for you.

Individuality

Each client is indulged in an individual treatment provided by a practitioner with many years of experience in ways of movement and observation of the ways that bodies can move.

These skills and this pragmatic understanding of biomechanics, involving the complex interactions of muscle groups have developed through a lifetime of involvement with Martial Arts, Yoga and Dance.

Adaptability

Treatment is a 'hands-on' approach, combining several modalities of body-work. Ranging from very gentle approaches to more stronger techniques - depending on the situation and each clients expectations. Any oils used during sessions are of high quality and nurturing to the skin.

The process of learning how to maintain rather than leaving everything to fall to pieces is all part of the journey.

Sensitivity

A gentle approach may include Aromatherapy - essential oils derived from plants - used in massage oil blends or dispersed into the air through an oil burner to enhance the benefits of the treatment. Some of the many reputed properties of essential oils include: Toning, uplifting, calming, digestive, stimulant and skin softening.

Other gentle approaches might be applicable during pregnancy where body hormones have allowed ligaments to become very supple to the point where joints could be damaged due to a combination of excess laxity and treatment that is not appropriate to the situation.

When a client is experiencing a lot of pain or extreme lethargy - Myofascial Release (slow, sensitive, friction-based stretching of inter-connected body fascia) or Lymphatic Drainage Massage (a systematic, rhythmic, gentle method of assisting movement of lymph through the lymph system) may be appropriate treatment styles.

Significant but Comfortable

Stronger approaches may be more applicable in areas of chronic tightness or rehabilitation from injury - or when it feels good to work with more pressure.

Rarely will I work into strong pain, as the negative effects tend to outweigh the positives in the long term.

Our aim, by working together, is to reset the level of tension that your own nervous system recognizes as normal for you - Using Trigger Points, Deep Tissue treatment, Articulation of joints, Muscle Energy Technique, Stretching and very importantly, Breathing.

The threshold that you feel is a ‘Significant but Comfortable' measure of pressure is unique to you and will guide the treatment.

Postural alignment

Posture and awareness of posture habits are the building blocks of effective treatment.

This awareness is encouraged during treatments, without honing in on negatives, as there is no 'Perfect Posture’......

........Everybody's posture is individual.
