Welcome to Bikrams Yoga College of India
The darlinghurst school was established in March 2002. Covering a total of 840sqm, it is large and spacious giving students plenty of room to move.
On the 14th of June 2010 we opened our second level
We have just installed a 10Kw solar power system on the roof. The system will generate about 80% of our power needs. Good for the environment.
The Yoga Rooms
We have 2 Yoga rooms.
Level 1 room is approx 150sqm. it is carpeted wall to wall as all bikram yoga schools are required. The yoga room has 2.1 metre high mirrors on the front and left side walls. This is the only bikram school in Sydney with side mirrors.
The yoga room is heated by 2 x electric fan forced gas furnaces. The ducting of the heat is at floor level which ensures an even level of heat throughout the room. We have a speaker system installed so teachers who choose to can use a Madonna mike headset.
Level 2 room is approx 200sqm. It has a podium for the teacher to teach from. Giving them a complete view of all students.
It has all the same set up as Level 1, namely heat, side mirrors, and P.A system.
Timetable
All yoga classes are 90 minutes in lenght.

Newcomers
Check in for newcomers closes 5 mins before each class commences. Please arrive 10 -15mins before your first class to avaoid disappointment.
The class is a demanding series of 26 postures and 2 breathing exercises.Done in a heated room to 38Deg C, it is 90 minutes in duration.
The class is suited to beginners and the more experienced yogi.
The way it works, we put all the new students in the back row and they follow along and do the best they can watching the students in front of them. As you become more experienced you move forward to the front row. The front row students being the most experienced students in the school.
There is a light atmosphere and there is no pressure to perform. All you need do is your best on that day. And trust me that will vary from class to class.
