Testimonials

Luke Power – Brisbane Lions
“Anthony works out my issues and is exceptionally consistent every time…..I know I can rely on him every massage session”

Narelle Urbanowicz – Ngirl Design
“Anthony has a great awareness of the body and really understands how to promote healing within it. He is a fantastic massage therapist who finds the right techniques and pressure to meet my needs while still making the massage a serene and relaxing experience.”

Jason Urbanowcz – Create PT Wealth
“There are massage therapists and then there’s Anthony. After spending many years playing competitive sports and living a busy lifestyle, I truly value investing regularly in my most valuable asset. I’ve had plenty of massage therapists over the years that were ok and did the job. Then I was referred to Anthony, the Body Mechanic. The benefits I have received from using his services are: better & deeper sleep, increased energy levels, calmer under pressure, increased range of motion reducing the chance of injury while exercising & increase in strength. This is why I call him the Body Mechanic, because he makes sure that my body gets the tune-up and service it needs to run at 100% efficiency. Thanks a lot Anthony, you sure have made my body feel half the age I was experiencing”.

Peta Stephens – QLD Netball
“Anthony is no doubt a very thorough and competent therapist. He has helped with my performance on the court and would recommend him to anyone”

Our focus within the industry

Remedial/Sports Massage: This includes deep tissue, acupressure, connective tissue massage, trigger point therapy and myofascial release. All of these techniques can be used in injury rehabilitation.

  • Massage - Swedish / Relaxation

  • Western Cupping Therapy (Remedial)

  • Nutrition

  • Pilates (Exercise Prescription, Postural Correction and Core Strengthening: 3 people maximum per session.)
Remedial Massage At Bodyassist our highly skilled and professional massage therapists provide remedial and relaxing massage treatments to help you reduce stress, assist with injury prevention and rehabililtation, maintain the health and vitality of the muscular system aswell as improving your overall wellbeing.

We offer a variety of remedial techniques - including Swedish, deep tissue and trigger point therapy.
Massage therapy is aimed at alleviating muscle pain, tension and headaches. Massage also releases toxins, improving blood and lymph flow therefore aiding recovery rate after injury, coping with chronic pain or improving overall performance.

During the treatment there is a thorough assessment of joint and muscle movements which leads to a highly effective treatment for both acute and chronic conditions.

Massage also releases and relieves tired and sore muscles, can be used to break down scar tissue, muscle adhesions and knots (muscle spasm/trigger points). Other elements include re-education posture (postural analysis) and further promote recovery from injury through rehabilitation.

Examples of Massage Therapy Techniques at bodyassist Sports Health clinic:

Sports Massage
Pre-competition massages which aid in warming and mobilizing muscles to have you ready for your performance.

Post-competition/training Massages will help to minimize the after-effects of a hard session/competition. Toxins can be removed, reducing the effects of stiffness and fatigue, maintaining muscle mobilization and speeding-up your recovery period.

Maintenance massages throughout the training seasons help to maintain or enhance performance and reduces the risk of injury, or re-injury.

Rehabilitation Massages promote recovery during and after an injury. A treatment will also include stretching and strengthening exercises specific to your sport.

Deep Tissue Massage
Deep tissue massage is used to release chronic muscle tension through slower strokes and more direct deep pressure or friction. It helps to break up and eliminate scar tissue and fibre adhesions. This type of massage usually focuses on more specific areas and may cause some soreness and possibly some discomfort during and after the treatment.

Acupressure (Massage)
Is a complementary medicine technique derived from acupuncture. In acupressure physical pressure is applied to acupuncture points by the hand, elbow.

Connective Tissue (Massage)
Deep intensive massage aimed at relaxing tense muscles. Manipulation of the reflexology zones harmonizes the functions of the inner organs. Very suitable if you are highly active and take regular exercise as a relaxing massage, which corrects minor muscle aches.

Myofascial Release (Massage)
A form of soft tissue therapy used to treat somatic dysfunction and accompanying pain and restriction of motion. This is accomplished by relaxing contracted muscles, increasing circulation, increasing venous and lymphatic drainage, and stimulating the stretch reflex of muscles and overlying fascia.

Swedish / Relaxation (Relaxation)
It involves the use of hands, forearms or elbows to manipulate the superficial layers of the muscles to improve mental and physical health. Active or passive movement of the joints may also be part of the massage. The benefits of Swedish massage include increased blood circulation, mental and physical relaxation, decreased stress and muscle tension, and improved range of motion.
When muscles are stressed they block oxygen and nutrients, leading to inflammation that builds up toxins in the muscle tissue. A Deep Tissue Massage helps loosen muscle tissues, release toxins. Since many toxins are released it is vital to drink plenty of water after a Deep Tissue Massage.

Remedial Cupping
Remedial cupping - specializing in Myofascial and Trigger Point Release and Mobilizing methods - that produce excellent results. This form of cupping improves circulation (blood flow), stretches and releases muscles and is used to compliment other remedial techniques during a treatment session. This method has been used for hundreds of years and has proven to be very effective for general wellbeing and the removal of toxins in the body.

Personal Training - “No Change without Pain”

Nutrition
The need for nutrition education continues as statistics show a growing percentage of Australians are overweight and obese and show other diseases associated with diets of excess. The present generation of young people were born into a world where fast foods were the accepted norm for snacks and family meals. This, coupled with reduction in physical activity, has increased the rate at which obesity is growing in Australia. The health problems and costs associated with long term obesity and other diet-related diseases are sufficient to show the need for further programs from Nutrition Australia. I feel it is important to work together to create a nutrition and diet plan personalized to best suit your lifestyle and needs. Healthy eating is the key to success.

Pilates
The secret to a healthy spine is good back musculature, achieved through body awareness and regular correct exercise. Pilates will tone, strengthen and condition your muscles and as result will enhance your overall wellbeing. With practice there will be a significant improvement in your posture, core stability, mobility and flexibility and effectively rejuvenate the entire body.

Pilates defined: This is an exercise system that is focused on building strength without bulk, improving flexibility and agility, and helping to prevent injury. It was developed in the 1920s by Joseph H. Pilates, who was a physical trainer and founder of The New York Pilates Studio®. It involves a series of controlled movements that engage both your body and mind. Pilates utilizes specifically designed exercise apparatus and is supervised by highly trained teachers. It was initially created for rehabilitation, but was later adopted by dancers and athletes and is now utilized by millions. A beginner class generally consists of very gentle exercises done on a mat in either a sitting or lying down position. The primary focus is on awareness of the spine, proper breathing, core strength and flexibility. The outcome of Pilates training is a balanced body which is strong and supple, flat stomach, balanced legs, and a strong back.

I am currently undertaking studies in Pilates (Mat work 2) which will aid clients with strengthening, stretching and as a result overall wellbeing. This, coupled with remedial techniques and exercise prescription will equip them for further in the future for maintaining good postural habits and stronger core stability. The outcome of all of this work is to help improve, educate, and change my clients quality of life so they can achieve their goals pain free.

At Bodyassist we have a professional manner, thorough treatment, consultation and /or training and we feel it is important to have a great sense of humor to make the whole experience fun and relaxed as well as achieving results. I have always been passionate about educating clients and also offering self management strategies for their long term goals.

We will show you safe, effective and fun ways to exercise

  • Vision: (what is your vision for the future, how do you see yourself in 5 years)

  • Goals: (We hold goal orientated sessions…..no session is wasted)

  • Motivation: (Finding out what motivates and enhance those aspects of your personality)

  • Purpose: (practical purpose driven sessions…we don’t just lift weight)

  • How we can achieve: (over the session we will analyze how best to achieve your best results)
During the past 5 years I have trained groups, couples and individuals. The range of ages is from 16 years to 70 years of age. My training sessions are fun and informative with an emphasis on correct form and postural strengthening coupled with cardiovascular health. I choose to train outdoors in local parks (I also have access to Gyms if that is preferred) and believe that we all benefit more greatly from this experience. Most of us work in a closed environment…..let’s get out and smell the fresh air and feel the sun’s rays.

The 5 classic components of fitness are muscular strength, muscular endurance, body composition, cardiovascular endurance, and flexibility. Although there are other subsets like power and speed. The general population is defined as an age range of 18 to about 50 (45 and younger for males, 55 and younger for females). The definition of healthy in this context means an absence of a disease that would affect one's ability to exercise. Anyone outside that scope of practice should be placed in a trainer's professional care after a visit to the doctor to see what kind, if any, exercise they are capable of.

  • Personal Training (Postural Assessment, Exercise Prescription, Postural Correction)

  • Men's Health

  • All sessions ( Personal training, Pilates) are tailored to the specific requirements of the individual and getting results is top priority.
Taking a holistic approach is essential in the success of any program. Consistency and hard work and discipline are high priority.

I hope to hear from you soon so we can get you MOVING WELL, FEELING HAPPY and HEALTHY with BODYASSIST – Sports Health.
