Massage Types
Swedish Massage

Swedish Massage is a technique which uses long continuous strokes to promote blood flow and relaxation. Normally applied with medium pressure, this technique is great for total mind and body relaxation.

Deep Tissue Massage
Deep Tissue Massage uses many of the same movements and techniques as Swedish massage, but the pressure will generally be more intense. It is also a more focused type of massage, as the therapist works to release chronic muscle tension or knots aimed at the deeper tissue structures of the muscle and fascia.

Trigger Point Therapy
Trigger Point Therapy is a technique that uses pressure at the site of a trigger point. Trigger Points often feel like small nodules (knots) or taut bands of fibre within the muscle. Trigger Point Therapy helps to release the contracted muscle fibres, assisting in pain relief and improved muscle flexibility.

Sports Massage
Sports massage also uses Swedish massage techniques that stimulates circulation of blood and lymph fluids. Some sports massage movements use trigger point therapy to break down adhesions (knots in the muscles) and increase range of motion. When to have a Sports Massage;
  • pre-event sports massage -- a short, stimulating massage before the event. (Directed toward the muscles that will be exerted.)
  • post-event sports massage -- given within an hour or two of the event, to flush out the buildup of toxins.
  • restorative sports massage -- given during training to allow the athlete to train harder and recover quicker.
    Myofascial Release
    Myofascial Release is a specialized massage technique in which the muscle tissue (fascia) is stretched and manipulated to relieve tension, restore motion and increase flexibility. (Fascia is the thin tissue that covers the muscle fibres.)

    Hot Stone Massage
    Hot Stone Massage is a therapy in which volcanic basalt stones are heated (with hot water) then placed onto the body to relax the muscles. Throughout the treatment the smooth stones are used with the different massage strokes to ease muscle tension and promote an even deeper relaxation. An incredible treatment that everybody must experience.
