I also have a mobile service and travel to local guesthouses or client homes if they can't get to my clinic at Blackheath. If you suffer from the unbearable pain of arthritis, muscular pain or headaches I use techniques that enables the gentle physical release of muscles groups known as neuro-musculo skeletal therapy which also incorporates techniques from NLP (Neuro Linguistic Programming) for improved client outcomes. A one hour treatment also involves Myo-fascial release, trigger point therapy and deep therapeutic work of the muscles.
Massage itself is one of the oldest, simplest forms of therapy and at a basic level is a system of stroking, pressing and kneading different areas of the body to relieve pain, relax, stimulate, and tone the body. It not only affects the muscles, tendons & ligaments just under the skin but also the deeper layers of muscle and even the organs themselves.
It stimulates blood circulation and assists the lymphatic system (which runs parallel to the circulatory system), improving the elimination of waste throughout the body.
What’s the Difference Between Remedial & Relaxation Massage?
A relaxation massage helps destress and loosen up your body and is great for those who have had a hard working week or feel like treating themselves to some TLC. The treatment consists of flowing strokes, kneading and gentle manipulations of the muscles performed at your chosen pressure. It is a pain free way to relax both your muscles and your mind.
If you have particular muscle tension or chronic pain a remedial treatment may be for you. I assess where you need treatment and what may be causing your pain. I will perform some tests to see exactly which muscles are giving you trouble and will tailor a treatment plan to suit. The treatment itself may involve deep tissue work for short periods of time, but the results are definitely worth it. Conditions such as sciatica, carpal tunnel, stiff necks, headaches, sports injuries and many more can be eased with a remedial treatment.
Benefits Of Massage
Toning, Relaxing, Soothing, Healing, Reassuring, Eases tension, stiffness, and pain, Improves breathing, Improves circulation, Enhances well-being.
It can reduce many common ailments such as stress, muscle tightness, aches and pains - even anxiety and depression. Although a single massage will be enjoyable, the effects of massage are cumulative and a course of massage treatments will bring the most benefits. Regular massage can have the effect of strengthening and toning the entire body mechanism, and so help to prevent unnecessary strains and injuries that might otherwise occur due to excess tension and any resulting structural weaknesses. Massage can stimulate or calm the nervous system - depending on what is required by the individual - and thus help reduce fatigue, leaving the receiver with a feeling of replenished energy. At its best, massage has the potential to restore the individual physically, mentally and spiritually.
Hot Stone Therapy
Hot Stone Therapy dates back to over 3000 years ago. It was used in ancient India and China, and more recently by the North American Indians. Hot stone massage is a natural therapy in which warmed stones are positioned on parts of the client's body to maximize the therapeutic benefit. I use basalt stones as the high iron content in basalt helps the stones retain heat during the massage.
To begin with the stones heating effect will add to the regular massage techniques to make muscle relaxation easier, faster, or deeper and further enhance circulation. Due to the calming effect on the entire central nervous system clients often report feeling more 'grounded' following the treatment. In general, hot stone massage benefits the body by promoting absolute relaxation of tissues and muscles, easing stress in the body, releasing toxins from the body, relieving pain and aches, enhancing circulatory functions and calming the mind. Hot Stone Massage also assists in treating arthritis, anxiety, insomnia and depression.
