Massage for Function & Bounce Back Personal Training

Sports Massage

The therapist works across the muscle fibre, allowing it to release tension. This form of massage can be beneficial for any person; however it can have wonderful effects on the recovery of highly active individuals. It also helps to improve performance levels due to the fact that it allows the sore or overworked muscles to recover.

Myofascial Release

A gentle form of stretching of the fascia (which lies in between muscles). The purpose of this modality is to allow the fascia to release itself. Myofascial Release can be used to improve body alignment, relieve pain or tension, to improve function and increase muscle length in general. Each stretch is held for approximately 3 to 5 minutes.

Relaxation Massage

Relaxation Massage incorporates smooth flowing relaxing techniques. This massage may help you destress and unwind. It can also facilitate relief from tension and soreness as well as improve circulation. The high state of relaxation allows the body to recover more effectively than quick and hard massages, therefore improveing health and wellbeing. This type of massage can also be performed more firmly.

Anma/Shiatsu

A Japanese style of massage which is usually performed with the client fully clothed, however it can also be performed with the use of oil. The techniques used include mostly circular movements that create a nurturing rocking feeling. This type of massage is often seen in corporate settings.

Trigger Point

A wonderful way to release sore, tight, restricted knots is through the experience of trigger point therapy. Trigger points may develop through overuse of muscles, trauma, underused muscles, or even chilling (when the muscle is cold over an extended period of time). Once a trigger point is formed, there is limited blood flow to the area which means lack of nutrients as well as poor range of movement within that muscle. Examples include a frozen shoulder or a rotator cuff injury – often there are trigger points in those areas waiting to be released.

Done properly with appropriate proprioceptive neuromuscular facilitation (PNF) stretching, the muscle can regain its full function, circulation, mobility and nutritional needs. This modality requires the therapist to compress onto the trigger point for approximately 30 seconds, and the release may leave the client feeling weary for a few days. For this reason we suggest the client have half an hour of another form of massage blended with half an hour of Trigger Point.

Testimonials

“Nicol is a thoroughly professional, enthusiastic and considerate masseuse. She is very knowledgeable and personable, and very passionate about her work. As a runner, I am prone to leg and shin soreness, as well as shoulder and lower back pain. Nicol has always made me feel comfortable and I have felt fantastic after every massage she has given me. As well as giving me great massages, Nicol has also provided me some excellent advice regarding what I can do for my overall health and fitness.”
D Fazio, Paradise SA

" Nicol is a friendly yet disciplined therapist. I often suffer from neck and shoulder pain. After each treatment I feel my pain is gone, and I can resume my daily activities with more ease. I am happy to be in strong hands when necessary as the pressure is important to me. Plus she checks up on me after treatment, and I like that care factor."
