WHAT IS SHIATSU?

Shiatsu comes from the ancient Japanese traditions of Massage and Traditional Chinese Medicine. Shiatsu works with the energy of both the giver and the receiver known as "Chi" in Japanese. Chi flows around the body in pathways called meridians. When the smooth flow of Chi is disturbed, the energy becomes blocked in parts of the body, and it is this imbalance of energy that causes illness
It is also understood that illness can occur as a blockage in the Energy Field (aura). The energy field holds much of our emotional, mental and spiritual energies and blocks can occur when stress, trauma, or emotional problems happen in our lives. Shiatsu has the ability to clear these blocks in the body and restore the energy and balance body, mind and spirit.
Shiatsu is gentle, deeply relaxing, soothing, nourishing and healing and gently turns the attention of your entire body, mind and spirit to all aspects of any imbalances, so that you will feel supported to become aware of what you need to do to restore your own harmony and well being.

WHAT IS THAI MASSAGE?

Thai Massage is an extraordinary method of aligning the energies of the body, and originates from the time of the Buddha. Nuad Phaen Boran as is it called in Thailand correctly translates only as Ancient Massage or Traditional Massage. More widely known today as Thai massage, it is also often called Traditional Thai Massage, Ancient Thai Massage and occasionally Yoga Massage or Thai Yoga. Thai Massage works on the major meridians (energy lines), which run throughout the body this benefits in harmonising the body, to loosen blocks, and to recoup deficiencies along the energy lines. In contrast to traditional Chinese medicine, which uses acupuncture to manipulate the pressure points, Thai Massage stimulates these same points with healing touch. Therefore, the points suffer less stress, and life energy, or Chi, is allowed to freely circulate. Thai Massage also includes beautiful stretches to invigorate and energise the body.

Yoga for you without the effort!

A mixture of Shiatsu and Traditional Thai Massage leaves my clients feeling marvellous, completely de-stressed and relaxed.

THAI HERBAL BALLS

The Herbal Massage Ball is one of Thailand’s traditional massage tools which have been widely used since ancient times. They are known for their anti-inflammatory and relaxing properties, as well as their ability to treat a variety of ailments including chronic muscle pain, joint pain and various skin conditions. The Herbal Ball is a cotton bag filled with more than ten varieties of herbs. The ball is steamed This allows the essential oils to evaporate into the cotton cloth that the herbs are wrapped in, and when the ball is applied to the skin, the essential oils and heat are transferred to the recipient’s skin the aroma is delightful and the benefits are amazing I incorporate this into many of my treatments.

CUPPING

Cupping is an ancient Chinese method of causing local congestion. A partial vacuum is created in cups placed on the skin either by means of heat or suction. This draws up the underlying tissues. When the cup is left in place on the skin for a few minutes, blood stasis is formed and localized healing takes place. Cupping has also been found to affect the body up to ten centimetres into the tissues, causing tissues to release toxins, activate the lymphatic system, clear colon blockages help activate and clear the veins, arteries and capillaries and activate the skin.

MOXIBUSTION

Moxibustion therapy is a traditional Chinese medicine treatment that assists in dispelling cold and damp from the body. It is useful in helping with a wide range of conditions, including aches and pains, colds and flu, and even poor digestion. In Traditional Chinese Medicine, Mugwort is considered to be warm, acrid, and bitter when used in herbal prescriptions. When burnt, it has similar properties and, thus, its warming nature is useful for helping to expel cold and damp from the body as well as warming the body’s channels. The bitter and acrid aspects of Mugwort help to break stagnation, clear phlegm, and rectify the Chi and blood.
