ACUPUNCTURE
Acupuncture dates back as far as five thousand years and is the most widely used form of traditional medicine practised in the world today. Acupuncture is an integral part of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) along with Herbal Medicine, Massage and dietary advice, and effectively treats a wide range of acute and chronic conditions.
The Chinese understanding is that human beings are an integrated whole, connected to all and everything, and our emotions, thoughts, beliefs and lifestyle all affect our state of health. Pain and disease are not an isolated event but an outer manifestation of a state of imbalance in any of these areas which results in Qi (the vital life force) becoming blocked, stagnant, erratic or toxic. Acupuncture activates and balances Qi which flows through the body in pathways known as channels or meridians and seeks to restore harmony and balance within body, mind and spirit.
CHINESE HERBAL MEDICINE
The use of Chinese herbs (incorporating herbal extracts) has documented and proven benefits to numerous health conditions over thousands of years.
Most of the herbs used have been prepared in China and are stringently tested on a regular basis to ensure they meet the Australian Therapeutic Goods Authority standards. Claims of therapeutic benefit related to any supplements are supported by evidence from clinical trials.
The herbs come in tablet, capsule or powder form, and need to be consumed several times during the day for a designated period for the desired effect.
MASSAGE Modern day living can take its toll on our health and wellbeing. Experts believe that stress accounts for 80-90% of all disease. I believe massage is the perfect antidote.
As Bruce Lee says in the quote above, strength and flexibility are the two crucial characteristics of the bamboo plant. The plant’s hollow stem endows bamboo with the qualities of durability and grace – it bends readily in response to external events, but does not break easily. My holistic treatments can help you to maintain movement and flexibility in the face of challenges, both physical and emotional, as we work together towards your goal of optimal health.
Remedial Massage
Remedial massage treats injuries, muscle aches and pains and postural imbalances. Massaging tense muscle tissue areas helps speed up the body's own repair mechanisms to create balance. Remedial massage is a holistic treatment and involves the use of massage and a wide range of diagnostic techniques to treat a condition. It can be helpful in treating specific areas of muscle tension caused by stress or injury. It uses several specialised techniques to locate and repair damage to muscles, tendons and joints. The therapy also helps to get the blood flowing to injured tissues to speed up the repair process. Remedial massage can also be used for relaxation and general wellbeing.
Relaxation Massage
Many live their stressful lives day to day without taking any time off just for them. Everyone deserves a well needed moment of relaxation and this massage is just the right technique for that. It will relax your mind and body, giving you a break from the stress of your life.
Relaxation massage is a smooth, gentle style of massage designed to improve circulation, range of movement, relief minor muscle pain, and promote overall relaxation. Most people don’t take enough time off for themselves anymore. It’s about time you’ve pampered yourself with a relaxation massage!

Cupping
In Chinese Medicine, illness or pain is viewed as an imbalance of the flow of the energy (Qi) in the body.
Cupping used in combination with massage stimulates the flow of Qi in the body. Eastern cupping is a Traditional Chinese Medicine modality
involving heated glass bowls or cups. A flame is placed into the cup and quickly removed before the cup is placed on to the skin creating a vacuum. When the cups are left in place on the skin for a few minutes, blood stasis is formed and localized healing takes place. In short, cupping brings fresh blood to the area and improves circulation. Cupping is widely used for pain relief. Numerous cups can also be placed along either side of the spine to release tension and this treatment feels great on tight backs and sore muscles. Cupping can also be used to treat respiratory problems like coughs and wheezing particularly at the onset of a cold.
With a variety of massage techniques and stimulation of pressure-points the flow of energy (Qi) is moved along channels, connecting all parts of the body, restoring balance

Lymph Drainage Massage
Lymph drainage massage stimulates the flow of the body's lymphatic fluid to the lymph glands, thereby strongly enhancing the removal of the body's waste products.
It cleanses, relaxes and energises the body and is particularly good for:
Reducing swellings (due to either soft tissue injury or oedema)
Softening scar tissues
Promoting healing & recovery post surgery
Cellulite
Arthritis
Detoxification
Chronic fatigue
Lymph drainage is an extremely light, slow and gentle style massage.

I am enormously grateful to Cathy Bell. After injuring my back tidying up the backyard, I was so keen on the prescribed painkillers and physiotherapy that I likely made matters worth. Subsequently, an MRI scan showed a prolapsed lumbar disk pressuring on the sciatic nerve which, in turn made my right leg close to useless and with an uninterrupted pain all the way down to my toes. The neurosurgeon gave me two options: wait and see (ie. sometimes, and with time, it heals by itself) or surgery. For some reason, the thought of someone else’s knife close to my spine was not particularly appealing. Hence, I was down to my last hope when I decided to give acupuncture a chance. Browsing through the net, I came across many options. Cathy’s web site impressed me for the 'no fuss, down to earth' description of her therapies. While not immediate, the improvement was noticeably progressive to the point that, after six sessions, it was apparently obvious that we could stop the series of regular sessions. I"m almost looking forward to having another ailment to give Cathy a call!
Antonio, Chapel Hill
I have been coming to Cathy for over a year now for massage & just over 6 months for accupuncture - Cathy is amazing & I always leave feeling rejuvenated! As a mother of 2 sprightly young children I am often stretched for time & Cathy is always mindful of that. I really notice it now if I go longer than 2 weeks without an appointment. I would recommend Cathy in a heartbeat - and have!
Keryn, Indooroopilly
I have been seeing Cathy now for
nearly a year. The very first time I felt immediately comfortable with her and I left feeling almost euphoric and rejuvenated. Cathy is a very knowledgeable therapist,
who is incredibly tuned into the specific needs of her clients, willing to make suggestions
and change things in each situation. The benefits extend into my day-to-day wellbeing. Its something that I wouldn't give
up and encourage others to take up!
Megan, Forest Lake
I had suffered with painful tennis elbow for around six months. It often kept me awake at night throbbing. Sick of taking painkillers I thought I'd try acupuncture. Within 2 sessions with Cathy it had completely gone. Ian, Graceville
I want you to know how warm and welcoming your clinic is. Even in the middle of winter you make a total stranger feel welcome.
Megan, Indooroopilly

~ always manage to solve my back problem [including those darn knots I didn’t even know I had]
~ are so pleasant to deal with
~ charge a fair price for a superb service
Thankyou!
Carolyn, Jindalee
