About Us
Owner Catherine Smith takes pride in supporting people to achieve the right work-life balance in today’s busy world.
Catherine has witnessed over the years the power of massage to shift chronic ailments and bring new serenity to her client’s lives. But in addition to her extensive experience as a massage therapist, Catherine has a detailed understanding of the corporate world and the demands of the modern workplace.
Before becoming a Massage Therapist, Catherine worked as a Recruitment Consultant for many years placing both administration staff and IT staff into a wide variety of workplaces. Within those years saw the absolute need to achieve work-life balance within her own life, but also had a great interest in helping other people to achieve this.
Catherine initially trained in Nutrition and Herbalism in the early 80’s and had always had an interest in alternative therapies. In 1994 Catherine made a significant lifestyle change when she made the decision to undertake training as a massage therapist. After working in a number of practices Catherine established her own business at North Sydney Remedial Massage in 1997.
Since then Catherine has studied all types of Massage and continues to study. Catherine is also a trained Meditation Teacher and offers beginners course within the practice.

Treatments
Swedish Massage
This involves general massage techniques designed to increase blood and lymph flow, mobilise muscles and loosen tight surrounding tissue. It is excellent for maintenance of health and relaxation.
Aromatherapy
A nurturing therapeutic massage combined with the healing properties of pure essential oils, which enhances well- being, relives stress and helps the rejuvenation of the body.
Remedial Massage
A firm style excellent for treating specific musculoskeletal problems and injuries or working with the whole body as a good stress reliever. Aromatherapy oils can be used to enhance this therapy.
Sports Therapy
Incorporates a combination of massage techniques to treat sports people and athletes. Enables great flexibility, improved muscle tone and enhanced workout performance.
Traditional Chinese Massage
Is focused on Acupoint stimulation, soft tissue manipulation and energy enhancement to restore the balance flow of "chi" and harmony in the body.
Bowen
Balances the body to allow it to heal itself with minimal intervention. The work consists of a series of precise moves on specific points of the body. These moves are light and can be done through clothing. There are frequent and important pauses between each series of moves, giving the body time to benefit from each. The technique uses positive moves that initiate a positive energy flow and negative moves that isolate this energy to a specific area.
Lymphatic Drainage
Consists of a very gentle pumping technique, which helps to decongest the lymph nodes to enable sluggish lymph to drain. Its uses are many but are mainly used to reduce postoperative surgery recovery time, breast surgery (mastectomy), cellulite treatment, and liposuction, to name a few. It is also a fantastic way to de-stress and a great immune system booster.
