SERVICES
My name is Natasha. I’m a degree-qualified Naturopath and a member of ANTA (Australian Natural Therapists Association). Naturopathy is a system of medicine which harnesses the body's natural ability to heal itself. As a professional practitioner, I work with you to not only resolve your symptoms, but to determine and resolve the underlying causes of your illness.

What is Naturopathy?
Naturopathy is a system of medicine that supports the body’s own innate healing ability. Naturopaths do not see a person as just a collection of symptoms, but rather as an individual with a unique mental/emotional make-up, constitution and life history.

Historically referred to as herbal, alternative, traditional or complementary medicine, Naturopathy is becoming increasingly recognised and accepted by the broader community as a means of restoring, maintaining or enhancing one's wellbeing in complement to traditional western medical methods.

The aim of naturopathy is to find the cause of the illness in the patient and address this through natural medicines, education, diet and lifestyle advice. The benefit of this approach is that the patient will receive tailored treatment specific to the individual, achieve long term health benefits and learn an approach to their health that will prevent further illness.

Do I have to be unwell to see a Naturopath?
No! Naturopaths believe in preventing illness by maintaining a state of excellent health and wellbeing, so you can see your Naturopath regardless of whether you feel ill or not!

Part of preventative health care involves assessing individuals for their particular risk factors and implementing strategies to prevent the onset of chronic disease such as cardiovascular disease and diabetes.

What can I expect from a consultation?
Initial consultations take about 90mins and include a complete history of the patient, and a detailed account of the presenting complaint. The patients constitution is assessed utilising naturopathic diagnostic tools such as iridology, and a treatment plan will be devised by the practitioner.

Your treatment plan may include:
- Herbal medicines and creams
- Vitamins and minerals (supplements)
- Homoeopathics (homeopathy)
- Flower essences (Bach and Australian bush flower essences)
- Dietary and lifestyle advice (diet and nutrition)

Follow-up consultations will be around 45mins (includes 15mins for making up individual medicines).

What can be treated using Naturopathy?
Many illnesses both acute and chronic can be treated such as:
- Cold and flu, bronchitis, asthma, allergies
- Digestive disorders, irritable bowel syndrome
- Skin conditions, eczema, acne
- Women’s health - menstrual problems, menopause, preconception care, pregnancy, fertility, endometriosis
- Men’s health - prostate enlargement
- Musculoskeletal problems such as rheumatoid and osteoarthritis, osteoporosis
- Fatigue, low energy, stress, chronic fatigue syndrome, insomnia, high blood pressure
- Diabetes (in conjunction with your GP)
- Children and babies - fevers, colic, colds, teething, allergies

Does Naturopathy work with other health modalities?
When managing patients, Naturopaths maintain a close relationship with other health professionals such as GPs, physios, chiropractors and psycho-therapists to develop an integrated treatment plan.

If you are currently taking prescribed medications, Naturopathy may improve your quality of life by reducing the side-effects of these medications or even allowing the dose to be reduced, in consultation with your GP

Can I claim through my private health insurance?
Health fund rebates can apply, depending upon your level of cover. Consult with your insurer!
