Acupuncture

An acupuncture treatment at Compmed is a little different from any you may have experienced before. Our practitioners are trained in evidence-based protocols, using techniques that have been scientifically proven to work for certain conditions. For the first step, the acupuncturist will ask you about your current medications, past medical history and look at any scans you may bring in. Then for step two, they will take your history using the time honoured classical “Five Element Theory”. This is the ancient medical model of the disease process. It includes taking the pulse, examining the tongue and asking a lot of unusual questions. Then finally after your initial assessment, the practitioner will discuss with you, the management care program for your particular condition. The treatment is virtually painless, with sensations ranging from nothing to a mild tingling. At Compmed, we only use the finest grade, sterile, single use, and disposable equipment. Your treatment may include the use of electro-acupuncture, laser, herbs and moxa. Moxa is a very old and effective way of getting heat into very precise points. Your acupuncturist will utilise whatever is needed to get you out of pain and on your road to wellness.
