What is a Birth Doula?

A doula is not a doctor or midwife and has no clinical responsibility or role in your birth.

However, your doula can improve the birth experience for the mother and baby in many ways. As a doula, I support women before, during and after labour by providing personal assistance. I draw on my experience and knowledge to give you emotional support and physical comfort throughout the birth. I also provide you with as much information as I have on topics surrounding childbirth so that you can base your decisions and your birthing plan on a variety of information. The information I have comes from published books, articles and DVDs, which I can loan to you or direct you to find. Throughout your pregnancy, birth and the postnatal period I am employed by you, not the hospital and I dedicate myself only to your needs. I make myself available to provide reassurance to you and your partner, to discuss all options available to you, and to help you relax and find your most comfortable positions during labour. I am also available on the phone or by email before and after the birth should you wish to talk about anything related to the birth.

About Me

I am passionate about conscious parenting. I have a great love for babies and children. I am blessed with two very special little girls of my own.

It is my belief that parenting begins in pregnancy and that a gentle birth is optimal for the overall spiritual and physical well-being of both mother and baby. I feel very privileged to support and empower women, their partners and children through this sacred time. Each mother is different and no two births are ever the same hence the care I provide will always reflect the needs of the people I am working with.

Birth Doula Services

My role as a Doula is to assist women so they they are empowered, prepared and trusting in their natural birthing abilities, offer physical and emotional support and assist couples in making informed decisions, by giving families access to extensive resources.

Through the use of meditations, visualizations, birth art and Dreambirth Imagery and other services I assist mothers to be well prepared for the special moment of birthing. Throughout the labour and birth I provide calm and constant care both physically and emotionally for Mother and her partner.

The first visit is typically around an hour. There is no charge for this meeting. Should you decide that you feel comfortable and would like me to support you and your family we can discuss your options and the type of care you would like to receive.

I am available to offer support at anytime throughout pregnancy and the postnatal period, either personally, by email or phone.

I also provide postnatal care to support families through breastfeeding, infant bonding, lotus birth, infant massage and other parenting support, naturopathy advice, homeopathy advice, homeopathic placenta remedy. Services Included in Post-natal Support

Infant development education, lactation management and referral, parental expectation and stress management, sibling adjustment and inclusion, sleep facilitation, monitoring of post-natal mood, household organization, meal preparation, family errands, newborn and/or sibling care.

I work to ensure that our time together provides a safe, healthy, and supportive atmosphere for you to get to know your baby, and for your newborn to adjust to and enjoy life outside the womb. My services are confidential, and support, non- judgmental. I maintain a high level of client satisfaction, and seek and respond positively to client feedback.
