Pilates – my Pilates classes are an integrated whole body workout, with a strong focus on strength and flexibility. However, the strength developed through my Pilates classes does not involve bulking up. I focus on movements that create long, lean and toned muscles. Stretching at the end of every class ensures you will not be sore the next day, and creates a body that can bend and flow through life.
Pilates has always had a focus on core strength which can relieve lower back problems, support good posture, and decrease abdomen fat which can contribute to chronic diseases such as diabetes and heart disease.
Pilates affects more than just the physical body. Through the Pilates breath, you can really begin to relax and centre the mind on to the present moment; real life can wait. Pilates can transform your body and your mind by becoming more aware. Once you truly feel happy within yourself you can become a better mother, father, friend, son, daughter, lover…
My group and private classes cater for beginners to more advanced students, as well as those with injuries, and mums-to-be. All my classes can be tailored to your individual needs. Let me know what you want to get out of your class and that is what I will deliver!
Yoga – the style of Yoga I teach is Hatha Yoga, which combines physical postures, breathing techniques and meditation. My classes also involve Vinyasa flow, which means “breath-synchronized movement”. In other words, each movement has an inhale or an exhale – we move with the breath.
Yoga has SO many benefits that there is bound to be at least a few that will suit you, which is why almost everyone can benefit from practicing Yoga.
My Yoga classes focus on strength, flexibility, balance, developing muscle tone and pain prevention. You can prevent injuries and some illnesses by becoming strong and flexible through yoga.
The mental benefits experienced in (and after!) my Yoga classes include mental calmness and stress reduction; by focusing on the physical postures, observing the breath and disengaging from thoughts. The deep breathing practiced in my Yoga classes can actually help relieve fatigue, headaches and depression. Yoga can help you feel happier, more energetic and more peaceful. Breathing exercises woven throughout my classes also help you breathe deeper throughout your daily life to give you the resource to become calm in times of stress.
Yoga can also improve your self-confidence! By practicing increased awareness of your own body you start to improve your alignment and posture. Yoga also helps your body find its right shape. Along with feeling happier and more relaxed, you will walk with a smile on your face and a spring in your step!
My group and private classes cater for beginners to more advanced students, as well as those with injuries, and mums-to-be. All my classes can be tailored to your individual needs. Let me know what you want to get out of your class and that is what I will deliver!
Thai Massage – Thai massage is often called ‘Lazy Man’s Yoga’. I will be using my hands, knees, legs and feet to move you into a series of yoga-like stretches.
My Thai Massages also involve elements of acupressure, reflexology, muscle compression and joint mobilization. The massage is performed with you fully clothed and on a special padded mat on the floor.
My Thai Massages have been described as energizing as well as relaxing, and can reduce stress, improve circulation, increase flexibility and range of motion, and improve clarity and mental alertness through increased blood flow to the brain.
Nutrition Consultations – Through a nutrition consultation with me we will analyse your current diet, and develop a new one together; one that suits you. If you are drinking 20 cups of coffee a day I will not tell you to stop drinking coffee tomorrow! Bad diet habits do not develop over night and neither do new healthy ones. Small steps are the key. I will let you know why I have taken certain foods out of your current diet and why I have included others; on a nutritional level. In our modern world there is often confusion about what is “healthy”, so I want to help you learn healthy habits for a happy mind and body.
I endeavour to share my experience and knowledge with my clients by creating a nurturing, stimulating and inspiring environment.

About Me
I began as a pilates student practicing once a week at a local gym in Tasmania but was enlightened when I was introduced by a friend into one of Michelle Merrifield’s pilates classes at Essence of Living Mermaid Beach in February 2008.
This experience came at a perfect time as I had just begun a new life on the Gold Coast and offered me a place and practice which was safe, uplifting, motivating and empowering. I was completely inspired and from this day on decided to make yoga and pilates a regular practice.
After a year of practicing and developing my skills and technique as a yoga and pilates student the opportunity to train as a teacher with Michelle at the Essence of Living International Academy arose. Throughout the duration of the course I was surrounded by passionate people and learnt not only about nutrition, anatomy, the importance of the breath and how to structure a class, but also how to be present, peaceful and positive in all aspects of life.
I strive to instruct classes which incorporate spiritual awareness with high energy, strength with lightness and technique with flow. I endeavour to share my experience and knowledge with my students by creating a nurturing, stimulating and inspiring environment.
