DJL Counselling & Mediation Consultancy is a private counselling and mediation practice. Our main office and consulting rooms are located in Werribee, with clinics scattered throughout the western suburbs of Melbourne.
SERVICES
DJL Counselling & Mediation Consultancy was founded in 2007 by Jane Lim, a clinically trained and highly experienced Psychotherapist, Counsellor & Genetic Counsellor with over 10 years of experience in the field. Currently, Jane leads a very dedicated team of Counsellors, Genetic Counsellors and Psychotherapists in providing a highly confidential, quality-assured service to clientele from a wide range of backgrounds.
All of our professional staff conduct both on and off-site clinics, seminars and presentations on various topics concerning Mental Health and Genetic Counselling and are also very fluent in several other languages – Mandarin, Chinese, Cantonese, Malay & Indonesian – and are able to conduct sessions in these languages.
Here are some of the Standard Services we offer:
- General counselling
- Depression, Anxiety, Panic, Anger Management, Grief & Loss, Phobias, Violence & Traumas, Relationship, Effective Parenting, Child & Adolescent, Career, Workplace & Staff Debriefing.
- Mediation (pre- and post-separation) - conducting of post-separation (parenting and non-parenting) agreements between parties and providing written, detailed Court Reports (both family and non-family law).
- Conflict Resolution, Post-traumatic and General counselling, seminars and therapy sessions for both individual clients, groups and staff members of professional practices, small businesses and large corporations.
- Victorian Bushfire Support & Counselling for victims and their families.
Here are some of the Specialist Services we offer:
- Weight Management Counselling Program - developed by our founder, our WMCP has proved very effective for many clients in helping them lose and maintain their desired weight on a permanent level, targeting both the physical and mental issues responsible for weight gain.
- Genetic Counselling - we are very pleased to announce that DJL Counselling & Mediation Consultancy has recently been accredited as the only practice in the Northern and Western Metropolitan Melbourne / Vic area that offers Genetic Counselling services to members of the public. Where, in the past, patients have been referred to the RCH’s Genetic Health Services unit in the city, now patients have the option of attending this local Genetic Counselling clinic for a small, out-of-pocket fee.
Our Genetic Counselling service includes (but is not limited to):
- Support with Pre-natal diagnosis (PND) - for clients with family histories of inherited disorders wishing to start a family.
- Support with Pre-implantation genetic diagnosis (PGD) – for clients wishing to undergo (or are currently undergoing) IVF.
- Calculated transmission rates for inherited disorders.
- Support and referral for appropriate genetic laboratory tests (where necessary, when required or requested).
- Education provision and support for clients undergoing (or wishing to undergo) laboratory diagnosis for selective gene testing – rare syndromes included.
- Provision of up-to-date Information, Education & Counselling for clients and family members affected with genetic disorders.
- Ongoing support for clients and families with inherited disorders.
- Referrals to relevant genetic support organisations.
- Support and counselling for children and individuals with special needs – e.g. Asperger’s Syndrome, ADHD, Down’s Syndrome, Acquired Brain Disorders etc.

- B.Sc (UWA), Dip. of Prof. Counselling, Graduate Dip. in Gen. Counselling (CSU), Master in Counselling (Monash).
- Board Member of the Federation of Victorian Counsellors (FVC).
- Qualified Member of the Australian Counselling Association (ACA).
- Associate Member of the Human Genetics Society of Australasia (HGSA).
- Clinical Member of the Australasian Society of Genetic Counsellors (ASGC).
- Honoured Member of the Golden Key International Honour Society.
