A bit about me.
My name is Josephine and I am New Zealand born. I now call Melbourne home, a city which I love for its energy, beauty and diversity. I love to people watch, eat out in Melbourne’s many wonderful cafés and restaurants, cycling & caring for the environment for both now and in the future. Another major interest of mine is travelling and I have just recently returned from South America where I briefly explored Brazil & Argentina.
‘Massage for You’ is a business that I started 2 years ago after completing my training at the ‘Southern School of Massage Therapy’. Massage is not only for relaxation but helps to heal the body from small injuries. It is a perfect remedy for tired, stressed and overused bodies.
Your muscles are the supporting structures of your body.
If they feel sore or stiff, then the rest of your body feels the same. By increasing blood circulation and improving the flow of oxygen and nutrients to your body's cells, they will feed your muscles, which will feel more relaxed.
A massage can do all this and more!
Call me on 0434 539 391, and we can see how we can work together to improve you.
After a massage, your muscles will:
- Feel soft & supple
- Have a reduction of inflammation
- Improve in tone
- Stop forming internal scar tissues
- Release fluids that cause swelling
philosophy - Opens up blood vessel’s, improving circulation and relieving congestion
- Restores full range of motion to your body, increasing flexibility and decreasing pain and discomfort
- Increases the blood supply and nutrition to muscles
- Helps over come harmful fatigue resulting from strenuous exercise or injury
- Improves muscle tone and helps prevent or delay muscular atrophy resulting from inactivity
Massage improves circulation, which increases blood flow, bringing fresh oxygen to body tissues. This can assist the elimination of waste products, speed healing after injury and enhance recovery from injury and disease. allowing the body to heal itself.
relieving stress
Massage and other forms of bodywork therapy can help release the toxins and assist in the natural healing process. Additionally, this will assist in the removal of aches, pains and stress, leaving you relaxed and energized.
Massage is a benefit to all people whether it is for discomfort or the prevention and maintenance for optimum health. Through the holistic view of massage the entire body is treated not just the part that is causing discomfort therefore increasing the body's well being and improves mind-body awareness.
Through manipulation of the soft tissues of the body, including skin, muscles, ligaments, tendons, and fascia.
This is done to get various physiological functions to go to work. These functions help get blood flow to help healing yourself naturally.
Swedish Massage
Manipulation of the soft tissues of the body, including skin, muscles, ligaments, tendons, and fascia. Most often performed with oil. Techniques include stroking, vibrations, shaking, effleurage (light long strokes), petrissage (circular manipulation), tapotement (percussive techniques) and rocking.
Remedial Massage incorporates the following:
Myofascial Release
Stretching of the fascia. The therapist is trained to distinguish how much force to use, the direction of the stretch and how long to stretch, via the feedback given by the patient's body.
Muscle Energy Techniques
Treatments in which a patient, on request, actively uses his muscles from a controlled position in a specific direction against a counter force. These techniques are used to strengthen weak muscles, stretch tight muscles and fascia, mobilise joints in which movement is restricted, and to improve local circulation
Deep Tissue
A phrase which indicates client-directed area-specific massage, as opposed to relaxation massage. Little or no oils are used to promote access to the deeper muscular and fascial structures, below the surface.
Deep Muscle Therapy
It works to stimulate the lymphatic and circulatory systems to promote cellular repair while removing the hazardous toxins. Aimed at correcting and preventing serious muscle conditions, such as Multiple Sclerosis, Muscular Dystrophy, and Parkinson's.
Reflexology is the practice of stimulating the hands and the feet as a form of therapy. observed that congestion or tension in any part of the foot mirrors congestion or tension in a corresponding part of the body. Thus, when you treat the big toes there is a related effect in the head, and treating the whole foot can have a relaxing and healing effect on the whole body.
