Then upon consultation with yourself we will outline a treatment program that will decrease your pain, improve your function and take you to the level of fitness and well being you desire.

Clinical Pilates

Clinical Pilates is an individually designed strengthening and stretching program that is receiving world wide recognition for its use in the rehabilitation of musculoskeletal injuries and as effective tool in enhancing general strength, flexibility and function and improving overall well being.

Clinical Pilates focuses on improving core stability (strengthening the stomach and back muscles). This increased core stability improves your overall body strength as well as aiding in the recovery of spinal injuries and reducing this risk of injury/re-injury.

Pilates is an exercise regime using specific floor based exercises and spring resisted equipment to train and control the body's deep postural muscles whilst focusing on relaxation and breathing to utilise the most effective pathway for normal movement and function.

Key areas trained are the deep abdominal and lower back muscles, deep pelvic/hip muscles, and the upper and middle back muscles. The purpose of training these muscles is to provide stability, strength and control to the lower back, pelvic and hip joints, upper back, neck and shoulder regions.

At Domain Health we have a fully equipped Pilates and training studio where you will exercise under the supervision of highly experienced Physiotherapists and Pilates instructors. The Pilates exercises focus on your core stability with creative and varied exercises on the floor, fitball and specialised Pilates equipment.

This is the big difference between our Pilates program and those Pilates classes at gymnasiums. At gyms there are large classes where everyone performs the same exercises, whether they are appropriate for your level of fitness or not. At Domain Health, the program is tailored for each individual at their level of fitness - so you will always receive an appropriate level of exercise for YOU.

In addition to offering superior physiotherapy treatment, Domain Health also prodive a highly professional and experienced maggage therapists who can provide you with an overall sense of well-being, vitality, re-energising and rejuvenating through a variety of massaging techniques.

Massage therapy is a key component in sports medicine; it not only relieves aches, pain, strains, soreness, stiffness and injury-related problems, but it also has the powerful effect on relieving tensions and stress from the body.

is the application of a range of physical modalities used in the assessment, treatment and prevention of muscular conditions which may cause myofascial pain and affect human movement. This therapy also aids relaxation, better posture, flexibility, muscle efficiency and overall function.

Trigger point therapy
deep/soft tissue massage and stretching, are just a few of the modalities used for this type of therapy. This form of massage alleviates abnormal muscle contractions, alleviates pain and strain, deactivates trigger points and prevents injuries.

Dietetics & Nutrition

Consulting a Dietitian is suitable for anyone who wants to improve their health and nutrition through food and lifestyle change. When faced with illness or a specific health concern, sorting through complex information and advice about diet can require specialist help. A Dietitian is University trained for this and is registered with the Dietitians Association of Australia as an Accredited Practising Dietitian.

When choosing your nutrition professional, look for an Accredited Practising Dietitian (APD). The APD credential is a public guarantee of nutrition and dietetic expertise. APDs undertake ongoing training and education to comply with the Dietitians Association of Australia's (DAA) guidelines for best practice. They are committed to the DAA Code of Professional Conduct and Code of Ethics and to providing a quality service.

Accredited Practising Dietitians can help you make realistic and sustainable changes for a healthy lifestyle and to maximise sports performance and deal with a range of medical and nutrition issues:
  • Diabetes
  • Obesity/Overweight
  • Gluten Intolerance/Specialised Diets
  • Sports Nutrition & Training Diet
  • Eating Disorders/Body Image
  • Other Medical Conditions

During your initial consultation we will discuss your goals regarding your diet. We will ask you a series of questions about your medical history then examine your present diet and exercise behaviour. From this, we will provide advice and practical suggestions for change, along with relevant written material.

Review consultations are designed to check your progress. Your dietary intake is re-examined, if desired weight and/or body composition reassessed, and additional changes recommended. Review consultations are usually two to four weeks apart and the number of consultations you have is entirely up to you.
