Treatments

Acupuncture

Acupuncture is the insertion of very fine needles into specific points on the body's surface. These points are mapped along energy channels of the body or meridians. The energy of the body, called Qi, flows along these meridians and is the basis of Chinese medicine. All living things have, and are composed of Qi. The smooth and harmonious flow of Qi through the meridians is necessary for good health and is the aim of acupuncture treatment.

When you come for your acupuncture consultation, we will discuss your past and present symptoms and your health goals to make a treatment plan for you that is individual and effective.

Massage

Chinese remedial massage or Tuina is another treatment that we can use to restore the proper flow of Qi in the body, this is great news for people who are needle-phobic. The saying goes, when there is obstruction (of Qi) there is pain, where there is free flow of Qi there is no pain. Tuina massage will relieve pain and tight muscles, but did you know it can also help treat a wide range of illness similar to acupuncture?

Chinese Herbal Medicine

Chinese herbs are an effective and natural way to look after your health. In China, herbal medicine accounts for over 70% of traditional medicine that is used.

During your consultation for Chinese herbs we will ask you about how well you are sleeping, about your appetite, if you have a preference for hot or cold and a range of other questions about your general health that may seem unrelated to your main symptom. As a holistic medicine we do not treat one symptom by itself, rather we treat the person that has this symptom. Such questioning is necessary to paint a picture of your overall health and for us to prescribe an individualised formula that will move you back towards balance and good health.

Herbal granules are used in this clinic, which are simply mixed with hot water and taken usually twice a day.

About Danielle Parker

Danielle's love of acupuncture started when she sought treatment herself following a car accident more than 10 years ago.

She found that acupuncture did so much more than simply relieving pain... and it did that remarkably well. It seemed to have a beneficial effect on the whole body, mind and spirit.

Danielle has now completed a Bachelor degree in Traditional Chinese medicine at the University of Western Sydney and internship training at the Jiangsu Provincial Hospital of Chinese Medicine in Nanjing, China. She also holds a Diploma of Traditional Chinese Remedial Massage (Tuina) from the Sydney Institute of Traditional Chinese Medicine.

Since graduating she has trained in the Five-Element style of acupuncture as developed by the late J.R Worseley. Danielle takes an integrated approach to her clinical practice, combining the strengths of these two very different forms of acupuncture along with Chinese herbal medicine and Tuina massage to achieve excellent results for her patients.
