Success in life requires the emotional strength and courage to resolve life’s problems
Identify Problems
Problems stem from mental health issues such as: trauma, self harm, anxiety, anger, self doubt, through depression, to involvement in the court system, career changes, assertive communication with management and difficulties at school.
How I work
I enjoy collaborative and respectful ways of working that focus on using the often neglected expertise that people have about themselves. By offering short or long term sessions, we decide together how often you want to come, and for how long. Personal sessions do not have to last forever. It is possible to achieve the changes you want in a very short length of time.
Many clients work through a specific situation where they get stuck and only stay in sessions until they feel better. They may stop coming for months or years at a time, until something else comes up where they need a “top up”
Other people have goals that they are moving toward, however temptation encourages them to revisit old habits. Some problems can be hard to resist, however we will work together to develop what ‘fits’ best with you.
My approach
My approach to counselling /coaching is very simple. While you share what is on your mind, I will ask questions to help clarify what you are aiming for and what is standing in your way. Often people feel they know what’s troubling them, but still can’t seem to make a change. I see you as a person separate from your problems.
In our sessions, we will look at concerns and issues from different angles: this encourages new possibilities and helps to connect you to your motivation for change. Together we identify abilities, commitments and values that can support you to take steps toward what you prefer in your life.
Taking action reduces the influence of problems that persist in dominating your situation.
