Nicky works with preventative measures based on diet and lifestyle, as well as natural forms of medicine to assist and support the healing process, when a cure is needed. Treatments are tailor made to suit the individual and their needs, and may consist of herbal medicine, homoeopathy, flower essences and vitamin / mineral therapy.
Herbal Medicine (or Phytotherapy) is a centuries old form of medicine (people on all continents have used hundreds to thousands of indigenous plants for treatment of ailments since prehistoric times), that has become a scientifically proven, effective method of medicine. Many of the pharmaceuticals currently available to conventional physicians have a long history of use as herbal remedies, including opium from the poppy, aspirin from Willow, digitalis from Foxglove, and quinine from the cinchona. Most herbs and other plant matter are available as liquid herbal extracts, teas and tablets.
Flower Remedies (or Essences) can help to affect a change on the emotional and psychological level of illness. Australian Aboriginals have always used flowers to heal the emotions, as did the Ancient Egyptians. There has also been a very long tradition of use of Flower Essences in India, Asia and South America, as well as being very popular in Europe in the Middle Ages. Hildegard von Bingen (12th century) and Paracelsus (15th century) both wrote about how they collected dew from flowering plants to treat health imbalances. Nicky uses the Bach flower remedies as well as the Australian Bush flower remedies
Homoeopathy is a system of medicine based on an axiom formulated by Samuel Hahnemann, the founder of Homoeopathy, in 1796, which he called the law of similars - preparations which cause certain symptoms in healthy individuals are given in diluted form to patients exhibiting similar symptoms - like attracts like. Apart from your symptoms, Nicky will use aspects of your physical and psychological state in prescribing remedies. Homoeopathy also offers an alternative to vaccination called Homoeoprophylaxis, in which Nicky is trained.
