the only yoga school in the Greater Geelong region registered to teach Iyengar Yoga

Geelong City Yoga

Welcome to Geelong City Yoga

Geelong City Yoga is the only yoga school in the Greater Geelong region registered to teach Iyengar Yoga, the world's most popular form of yoga. Established in 2004 and located in the heart of Geelong's CBD the beautifully renovated, fully equipped studio, offers casual classes and courses for all levels of ability.

Iyengar Yoga is a pragmatic system that will greatly increase your overall health and sense of wellbeing. From those seeking relief from back / neck pain or the effects of stress to elite sports people wishing to enhance performance or recovery time Geelong City Yoga has an established reputation for professional excellence.

Classes are physically challenging. However, different class levels, capped class numbers, the use of props and highly experienced teaching combine to ensure each student practices at the appropriate level, in a safe manner, with individual attention and correction when required.

Class Type

'Casual': No booking necessary, just come along and pay by the class.

All new students can attend the Sunday Casual Classes FREE

'Course/Casual' : A set of 10 classes at the same time each week. The course follows a progressive curriculum, which systematically introduces and consolidates the principle yoga poses. Enrolment is necessary.

If however you are enrolled in a course at enother time, have previously completed a course at Geelong City Yoga or have appropriate experience you may attend these classes as a 'Casual'. The rate per class for casual attendance is however slightly higher than if enrolled in the course.

Please note If enrolled in a course and attending further classes each week you pay only the concession 'casual' rate.

Make-ups: Allows for flexibility for those enrolled in courses. If enrolled in a course but unable to come to your regular class you can come to any one of the other classes of the same level. (Max 3 per term)

Class Levels

Beginners: For those with no experience or for those needing a physically less demanding class. Standing poses, some seated poses and introducing the very beginning of inversions and pranayama.

Level 1: For those having completed at least one beginner's course or with relevant experience. Consolidating beginners work, development of inversions and introduction of backbends.

Level 2: For more experienced students. Stronger practise includes regular full inversions and backbends.
