What happens in an Acupuncture treatment?

Cherie Lawrence diagnosis your condition and formulates the best possible individualised treatment plan for you. Cherie then administers small, fine, sterile needles into certain acupuncture points of your body where you should feel a sense of “warmth, tingling, numbness, dullness, or heaviness” in the area. This is the desired effect which means your body is on the correct pathway to restoring health. You should find this time deeply relaxing and drift off to a well deserved peaceful rest.

Chinese Herbal Medicine

Tired of the side effects of proscribed drug medications? Looking for a safe, natural solution to improve your health?

中药 Chinese Herbal Medicine is extremely safe, effective, and with minimal or minor side effects. Chinese herbs treat the root cause of your illness and are tailored for you for more accurate effective results. They are also convenient and easy to take. You will be proscribed herbal granules (powder), pills or capsules to drink with warm water.

Chinese Herbal Medicine is beneficial for many types of conditions ranging from common colds to more internal disorders such as digestive, respiratory, immune, cardiovascular, reproductive, skin, neurological, and emotional conditions to name a few.

The ingredients of Chinese herbal medicine are largely composed from plants, then to a smaller extent minerals, and rarely animal parts. Cherie Lawrence is proud to be accredited by the Department of the Environment, Water, Heritage and Arts Australia to not trade with any illegal or endangered species of plants, minerals, and animals as outlined by the Endangered Species Certification Scheme, to support wildlife while ensuring medicines for you are derived from ethical and responsible sources.

Cherie Lawrence provides TCM services including acupuncture, herbal medicine, cupping, and massage to facilitate your body and mental-emotional state to reach ultimate health levels. The aims of Cherie’s treatments are to treat the cause of your condition so as to return your body back to a natural healthy shape, maintain your health and wellbeing, and to prevent any future illness so you are fit and healthy to enjoy a pain free and stress free quality life.

Cherie’s treatments are natural and holistic useful for a wide range of conditions including muscle and skeletal pain, tightness, stiffness and injury, to headaches, stress, immune, digestive, skin, respiratory, cardiovascular, urogenital, gynecological, neurological, and fertility conditions. Cherie also aids in the management of cancer, arthritis, and diabetes.

........................................................................

Cupping

Are you in constant back, shoulder, or neck pain? Then cupping is for you…

拔罐 法Cupping is an ancient Chinese medical technique used when there is tightness and pain in the muscles. A cup is placed over an acupoint which breaks up qi and blood stagnation relieving pain and internal disease. Traditionally animal horns were used, then bamboo cups, and currently Cherie uses glass cups to relieve your pain. Cupping is left in situ between 5-15minutes, in which you should find the experience relaxing. Cherie often uses this along with massage.

........................................................................

Massage

Stressed? Do you have muscle tightness? Stiffness? Aches? or Pains?

Cherie commonly uses Chinese Remedial Massage (推拿Tuina) to treat your muscle stiffness, tightness, and pain. Cherie also uses Tuina for stress related conditions such as insomnia, anxiety, depression, headaches, digestive and menstrual disturbances. Techniques Cherie uses include kneading, rolling, pushing, rotating, stretching, percussion and acupressure for therapeutic purposes. Cherie has found a combination of acupuncture, cupping, and massage to be therapeutically most effective (as opposed to massage alone) and therefore provides Chinese Massage upon diagnosis in combination with acupuncture and cupping treatments.

........................................................................

Gua Sha

Do you have pain, fever, or one of those “Frozen/Can’t Move” conditions?

Then 刮痧 Gua Sha an ancient Chinese medical technique useful for any type of pain or fever is for you. It is particular beneficial for diseases caused by exposure to external elements (wind, cold, rain, heat) such as your common cold and for those “can’t move” or “frozen” muscle conditions.

It involves using a tool such as a simple spoon to ‘scrape/chafe or rub’ along the surface of the skin. When Cherie ‘scraps’ the surface of your skin it will cause your muscles to loosen relieving pain and the internal disease.

........................................................................

Moxibustion

Always feel chilled? Cold hands? Cold feet? Can’t bear winters?

灸法 Moxibustion then may be for you. Moxibustion is an ancient Chinese medical technique involving igniting moxa (dry mugwort leaves) and placing it on acupuncture points on your body to warm certain areas for a therapeutic effect. It is useful for warming your body and dispersing cold, promoting blood circulation, removing blood stasis, preventing diseases, and promoting health.

........................................................................

Dietary & Exercise.

Not sure what to eat? How much to eat? When to eat? What type of exercise suits you?

Upon diagnosis Cherie will guide you to choose which foods are appropriate for your health condition and which foods to avoid. This involves assessing which types of foods will best help you recover from your condition in terms of food flavour, direction it goes in the body, and thermal property. Cherie will inform you of better health eating practices and advise you on appropriate exercises and stretches for your condition.
