What IS Feng Shui?
On a simple level, Feng Shui is our body’s interaction with the built environment. Humans have evolved over millennia in the Earth’s complex magnetic field. The structures we live in cause the natural fields to warp and twist, which can have either a positive or negative influence. The task for a Feng Shui Master is to assess, then alter the Qi (energy) of that environment so that people occupying a particular building will have a better quality of energy coming to them.
What is NOT Feng Shui?
Feng Shui is not your ‘money corner’, nor is it some ‘new age fad’. It cannot make you win the lottery, force the model to fall in love with you, make your husband do what you say, or any similar scenario. The main aim for Feng Shui is BALANCE in one’s life.
What do WE do?
There are many styles of Feng Shui, and each one has it’s own particular merits depending on what the clients wants from the assessment. Remember though, the main aim from our perspective is to achieve a wonderfully balanced life for our client.
The Chinese schools of Feng Shui used by Gold Dragon Feng Shui in each and every assessment are -
1. Xuan Kong Fei Xing, or more commonly known as the Flying Stars. This school maps out the energy of the structure based on when it was built and the direction it faces towards (kind of like an astrology chart for a building). This school is very good for predicting what will occur to people that live there.
2. Yuen Hom, is Cantonese for Xuan Kong, however the methods for flying the stars and interpreting them is very different to Fei Xing. This was originally used by the Imperial Feng Shui Masters for the Emperor only.
3. Ba Charp, also known as Ba Zhai or 8 Mansions to most westerners. The Imperial form is a great deal more in-depth than the majority of books or classes would teach you. There are many levels to this school, and one of the best is in determining how your house will support you.
4. San He, or Three Meetings. Has very good Sha Qi avoidance strategies, as well as some powerful water and door methods.
5. Qi Men Dun Jia, another Imperial method that is very powerful. Generally used for setting up a building and locating the best bedrooms and door location to maximise positive energy.
6. Miscellaneous Feng Shui methods, there are methods that we use such as Nap Yum Double Mountain, Room-by-room, Da Gua, Yi Jing Kinships, Daoist Talismans and others that don’t belong to any school in particular, but get results.
7. Zi Ping Ba Zi, a style of Chinese Astrology more commonly known as Four Pillars. No Feng Shui consultation can be done without it, since some placements and design used can be highly specific for one person. It can tell so much more, even down to the colour of the clothing you should wear.
8. Date Selection for placement of cures, signing contracts, getting married, applying for jobs or any other important purpose.
Even with the full assessment, if a client feels that they are not getting any movement in their life, then we will look at having a house or personal energy cleansing to remove any factors that may be interfering with the Feng Shui energy.
About Us
Dean French is the owner and operator of Gold Dragon Feng Shui. He started his studies into Feng Shui and Chinese Astrology in 1997, while he was working as a Research Chemist for a major mining explosives company. He felt a need to make changes in his life that reached far beyond what he was doing at that time. Picking up a book on Western-style ‘Black Hat’ Feng Shui ended up changing his life in a truly fundamental way.
While other Feng Shui practitioners proclaim to be the best or the leading or the foremost, Dean simply keeps working away for the benefit of his clients. Continuing his education into techniques that get results no matter where you are in life.
Dean is also qualified in Touch for Health Kinesiology, has studied Orion Therapy (Theta Healing), and has years of experience in space clearing and spirit/entity removal.
The training Dean received in gaining his Chemistry qualifications and experience in the field of research gave him a basis to study Feng Shui and the metaphysical from a purely scientific perspective, and to study the effects that traditional Feng Shui has not only on himself and his family, but on hundreds of people.
The drive to learn is strong, so Dean is continually upgrading his training and knowledge, doing advanced courses every year with Feng Shui and Chinese Metaphysical Masters from around the world. He is also a Platinum Member of the Association of Feng Shui Professionals.

There are many variables when looking at a property depending on the client’s wishes. We can target key areas of life for improvement - wealth, health, relationships although we do strive for overall balance in each area.
The best application for Feng Shui is in the planning stages, before you build. However Feng Shui can be used no matter what situation you are in.
Houses that are under heritage title do well having their Feng Shui energy altered. Most are over 90 years old, which places them in energy that is long ‘dead’. A Feng Shui analysis can help to alter the innate energy coming to the occupants.
Home owners have a much easier time putting the Feng Shui adjustments in place because they are free to carry out work on the property such as painting and decoration.
Tenants find that they do much better once their Feng Shui has been done. Many rental properties are not lived in by the owner because they do have poor energy. Once the property has been surveyed and adjusted to suit the tenant, many more opportunities arise.
Business owners also find that their employees achieve more, there is less turnover of staff and fewer sick days. All of this adds to bottom line. Feng Shui works very well in attracting new business.
