Michelle practices Shiatsu/Acupressure, incorporating Reiki and years of experience in Yoga & Healing. With an emphasis on Stress management & Relaxation, the body is better able to rebalance and restore wellbeing.
SERVICES How can shiatsu help me?
Shiatsu can form part of an effective stress management strategy and general health maintenance program by stimulating circulation, relaxing tense muscles and counteracting the effects of unnatural postures and lifestyle habits. It will not adversely affect any other form of treatment or medication undertaken concurrently, but can support the body in its efforts to rebalance itself.
Shiatsu is also beneficial for pregnancy, restoring energy after childbirth/ breast-feeding, operations, periods of extreme stress, physical training or chronic illness.
Other health issues responding well to shiatsu include: migraine, headache, menstrual/menopausal issues, neck, back and shoulder pain, sciatica, whiplash, asthma, digestive disorders, insomnia, anxiety, depression, influenza & chronic fatigue.
What else could be included in a treatment?
In addition to hands-on bodywork, complementary therapies may be used to reinforce your treatment such as cupping, moxibustion, sotai, ion-pumping chords or press balls.
Ear Candling is available combined with shiatsu or alone.
Indian Head Massage with Ayurvedic or Organic/Essential oil conbinations are also available as a separate treatment or combined with shiatsu..
Advice such as yoga exercises, meridian stretches and points to be stimulated at home may be given to you if you desire.
How can I maximise the effects of my treatment?
It is wise not to have eaten a meal for 1 hour prior to treatment and to have emptied your bladder to increase your comfort.
Jewellery may need to be removed.
Clothing needs to be non-restrictive and preferably of natural fibres- long pants and long-sleeved shirt are ideal.
Please refrain from the intake of coffee, alcohol or tobacco usage just prior to your treatment.
Try to allow some time to relax afterwards but avoid immersion in a hot bath/sauna for at least 1 hour.
Is shiatsu appropriate for me?
From children to the elderly – even a baby in the womb! Everyone can benefit from shiatsu as technique and pressure are adapted to suit the individual.
What else do I have to do?
Make time for yourself, make an appointment, then all you have to do is breathe!
How long will it take?
An average treatment of one hour will include a diagnosis with the majority of the time being hands-on bodywork.
Symptom relief is usually noticed immediately, however; a series of treatments is recommended for the body to significantly make deep adjustments.
Half hour as well as full hour or one & half hour treatments are offered.
Where do I go?
Treatments are available in East Bentleigh.
Home visits may be arranged for elderly and those in need in the local area.
