Body Work, both Remedial Massage and Osteopathy are holistic treatments, meaning they look at the body as a whole, as well as the specific area where the symptoms are felt. The aim with all body work is to find and address the cause of the discomfort or disorder, not only the symptoms.
At the initial consultation, we will ask about your lifestyle, ie jobs, sport, age, eating and drinking habits, posture, relevant hobbies, medical history etc. This information, combined with a brief postural observation, helps us to determine the relevant techniques for each consultation.
Touch is a most effective form of healing. The energy which flows through the hands can refresh, regenerate and revitalise. Massage and osteopathy can bring about beneficial physical and psychological changes and restore balance to the body as a whole.
The Therapists:
About Sarah Bahar-Gowans...
I have been working part time as a remedial massage therapist since 1999, and have recently increased my focus, to full time massaging. Having worked with the body for some time, I see there are links between the emotions, thoughts & beliefs and the physical body. My goal is to assist you in releasing tensions or blocks in all these ares, to reach your optimal health. I am also a qualified teacher, both of children and adults and I run family massage classes, keeping them small for more personal relevance in your life.

About Massage and Osteopathy
Acupressure
Easy, relaxing, pain free, pain relief.
Acupressure is an ancient healing art developed in Asia over 5,000 years ago. It is a traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) technique, based on the same ideas as acupunture, using the same points and meridians but with the physical pressure of fingers, hands or elbows, rather than needles. In acupressure, key points on the skin's surface, are pressed, to stimulate the body's natural self-curative abilities. When these points are pressed, they release muscular tension and promote the circulation of blood and the body's life force energy (chi / ki) to aid the body's own healing. Acupressure also tends to integrate various bodywork therapies: therapeutic touch, somatic work, healing imagery, energy psychology, and massage therapy techniques.

Infant Massage Classes
Bonding with your Baby ..... Infant Massage... is done in classes, either individual or in small groups. The individual classes are usually done in 3 sessions, each for around 1hr, and the small groups include 4 sessions of around 1hr. This way baby is able to take in what we are doing and you as parents can absorb the information and ensure your questions are answered along the way, too. We cover the whole body and look at various issues together, from crying and how to cope with it, to routines, to colic.
Reiki
Together with acupressure, ie. placing Reiki energy into the acupressure points enables a more profound healing, with the combination of energetic healing and the tremendous wealth of ancient healing knowledge of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM).
