healing arts chiropractic
At the Centre for the Healing Arts we offer a comprehensive variety of gentle, effective, low- force chiropractic and soft tissue techniques which address all aspects of healing. Specific techniques are chosen to suit each individual’s specific needs. Because of our consistent and long standing preference for lower force adjusting techniques, we consider the Centre for the Healing Arts to be the authentic “home of gentle, effective care”.
healing arts yoga
Yoga, when practiced safely, has tremendous benefits, both physical and emotional. We cordially invite you to discover the strength, vitality and joy yoga can bring to your life.
At the Centre for the Healing Arts we offer classical yoga made body friendly, safe and appropriate for the western student. Our goal is to provide a place where students can safely explore, experience and enjoy the benefits of yoga.
Our classes reflect the philosophy that yogic asanas (or postures) are here to serve the student on their journey, not the other way around, and that gentle interaction with the postures, rather than force is the most direct pathway leading to the rewards of yoga. Classes are small enough to include individualized instruction, allowing each student to work at his or her own level.
Classes include: classical, body- friendly asana, pranayama or yogic breathing, mantra or vibrational sounds, yoga nidra or deep relaxation, awareness of subtle body, visualizations and meditation, and practices to improve kinesthetic sense, pelvic floor strength, posture and alignment.
Classes run during school terms and are currently offered on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 6pm until 7:30pm, and on Saturdays from 10am until 11:30am. Casual classes and workshops are occasionally offered during school holidays.
Pre-registration is required. Places are offered first to current students. Any places that remain by the end of term are then offered to students who have put their names on the waiting list for that class.
Please phone our office on (03) 5722 3888 during business hours for details of registration, to put your name on a waiting list, or to learn more about our classes.
healing arts acupuncture
Acupuncture has been used in various parts of the world for over 2,000 years. It was developed from careful observations of the interactions between the body and its environment. The guiding principle of acupuncture is to address the body, mind and emotions in unison, treating cause, not symptoms.
Acupuncture is based on the theory that each organ, because of its functional activity, creates a unique electro-chemical field. Wherever these fields connect, currents and rivers of energy are formed which flow in predictable patterns throughout the body. Where meridians or streams of energy come close to the skin they can be influenced by the shallow insertion of fine needles.
yoga therapy
There is no limit to the number of medical conditions that can be positively influenced by yoga therapy. Therapy may include asanas (postures), pranayama (breath work), relaxation, meditation, dietary advice and most especially Jnana Yoga, which enables understanding and management of the mind.
