Welcome to Healthy Balance Kinesiology
Kinesiology is a non-invasive method using muscle feedback (monitoring) and body awareness, to identify and correct imbalances in your structural, chemical, mental and emotional energies. Correcting these imbalances can help reduce stress and pain, improve performance at school, work and home, in sports, in relationships and promote health and well-being.
What is Kinesiology?
Kinesiology uses muscle testing to identify where there is a stress in the body.
I know this all sounds rather mystical and magical but in reality our bodies are an electrical system. As you know our brain uses electrical impulses to send messages to our muscles, this is how we walk and move. It follows then that muscle monitoring (or testing) is used as a natural feedback system.
When there is a stress in the body the indicator muscle (that’s the muscle used to indicate change) will ‘let go’ or test ‘weak’. It is important to remember that it is not a test of strength, but of the integrity of the muscle in relation to the body’s electrical system.
As an example imagine holding your arm extended at about a 45 degree angle. This is your indicator muscle.
Now if you were asked your name and you answered correctly while light pressure was applied to your arm, you would be able to hold your arm up. But if you said another name you wouldn’t be able to hold your arm up. This indicates that there is a stress in the body.
How does this work with your health issues?
This system of muscle testing bypasses your conscious thinking and isolates the factors causing the problem in the subconscious, body and energetic levels.
Your body is constantly working hard to maintain its’ natural balance, it is continually maintaining a myriad of functions such as your heart beating, your breathing, clearing toxins and repairing cells. Your body is amazing when you think how it can repair itself. Ever cut your finger and a few days later realized it has almost healed without any help consciously from you?
Because we look at the whole person as I mentioned before we identify problems in relation to the triangle of health. When you are in balance the triangle is even on all sides.
However your body is affected each and every day by the stresses of living and sometimes you need help maintaining your natural balance. Think about speaking in public, your stomach gets butterflies (chemical) you often get a headache or tight shoulders (structural), and you are anxious or nervous (emotional).
Long term changes in any area such as your emotional state (emotional/spiritual), or an injury from sport or work (structural/physical), or even food intolerances and allergies (nutritional/chemical) cause your body to become out of balance.
This is where Kinesiology can help by activating your body’s inbuilt healing ability as well as identifying external factors affecting your health. It is no coincidence that a Kinesiology session is referred to as a balance.
When all areas of your life are balanced, the best results flow and you function at your vital best.
Kinesiology is a powerful, safe and gentle natural approach to holistic health care that incorporates a combination of ancient Chinese Medicine and Modern Health Care practices.
How did kinesiology begin?
Kinesiology originated in the early sixties what an American Chiropractor, George Goodheart DC. Goodheart began using muscle testing for posture, general muscle function and general body imbalances. His further research formulated Applied Kinesiology which he made available to chiropractors and other professionals. In the early seventies, John Thie DC, started a system for lay people to use called Touch for Health. Since then Kinesiology has developed into a complete modality that is taught worldwide and is a powerful and versatile health care system in its’ own right.

Reiki
Reiki is a non-invasive, gentle, yet powerful method of healing. Reiki is also a technique for stress reduction and relaxation. It enhances the body’s natural healing ability and promotes well-being.
What to expect from Reiki treatment?
You relax, fully clothed, while the practitioner holds his hands on or above you. A treatment can last an hour or longer depending on the treatment required. Standard hand positions are used and mostly a full treatment is given covering all the important organs of the body.
There is no pressure on the body making it ideal for treating all ages and conditions, sometimes hands are even held away from the body. The energy flows wherever it is required and can normally be felt as a warm sensation or tingling in the body. Receiving Reiki is a very relaxing and soothing experience.
Reiki doesn't interfere with or diminish the intended effects of other health or medical practices. It is increasingly accepted in health and community care facilities.
After Treatment Care
It is important to drink plenty of water, especially when lymphatics are involved. This allows toxins to be flushed from the body.
It is possible that a person may experience some changes in mood as the body and mind processes new information, releases old experiences and changes in energy. Changes can be immediate or very subtle depending on the issue.
Feel free to contact me if you have any questions, comments or need assistance with any issues after treatment.
Homework may be part of the treatment as part of Kinesiology is to take responsibility for our own health and well-being.

About Me - Sherylyn Roulston
I have lived in rural Yangan for the past 21 years. The majority of that time has been spent raising our three beautiful boys, interspersed with a few years of work outside the home. My working life before my marriage was a myriad of positions mostly involved in business administration, with the occasional job as a waitress and nanny while traveling overseas.
I enjoy life and love a challenge. I bring a wealth of life experience to my passion as a Kinesiologist.
My journey into Kinesiology began when my children were in Primary and two of my boys struggled with reading. Kinesiology made an exciting difference to both the boys. Kinesiology has also featured heavily in my life over the past 6 years beginning with my learning Touch for Health 1-4, followed by my Certificate IV in Kinesiology from Kinesiology Schools Australia, an accredited college in Brisbane. I have continued on with my studies and will complete my Diploma as a Professional Kinesiology Practitioner with KSA this year. That will give me a provider number that will allow my clients to obtain a health rebate from approximately 20 health funds.
I have also obtained a certificate in Hyperton-X and a level 2 in Reiki.
I am a member of the Australian Institute of Kinesiologists and the Australian Kinesiology Association.
