Linked with a number of local allied health and medical providers, Heart & Soul Clinical Myotherapy offers a holistic advancement in clinical myotherapy treatment, to provide whole body management.

Owned and operated by Madeleine Crust (B.H.Sc. – Clinical Myotherapy), Heart & Soul Clinical Myotherapy pushes the boundaries of ‘myotherapy’ as we know it today, with the addition of postural assessment/treatment, postural sling correction, and the ability to diagnose musculoskeletal abnormalities.

What is Clinical Myotherapy?

Clinical Myotherapy is a branch of manual medicine, which focuses on the assessment, diagnosis, treatment and management of musculoskeletal pain.

Concentrating on the correction of postural imbalances, postural sling inequalities, work/non-work related injuries, sports injuries and pre/post pregnancy pain, Clinical Myotherapy is a well-recognised form of treatment, to be used as a single mode of treatment, or in conjunction with treatment provided by medical professionals or other allied health practitioners.

Clinical Myotherapy combines the standard assessment methods including: postural evaluation, orthopaedic, neurological and functional testing, with a thorough investigation of central and peripheral joint play, a detailed examination of contractile muscle tissue and the explanation of the relationship between the practitioner's findings, and the patient's complaint. The detailed and individualised assessment continues throughout the treatment, and is the distinguishing feature between Clinical Myotherapy and other manual therapies.

What should the patient expect within a clinical myotherapy treatment?

Heart & Soul Clinical Myotherapy offers an individualized, personal Clinical Myotherapy session which aims at treating a wide variety of musculoskeletal irregularities which may arise from sporting injuries (new and old), postural abnormalities, postural sling imbalances, work related ergonomic issues, or any general muscle aches and pains.

Within a treatment session, the practitioner will use a number of different techniques in order to assess, treat, diagnose and manage the individual complaint. These techniques offered include: Dry Needling (Segmental, Dermatomal or Muscular), Cupping, Corrective Exercises, Joint Mobilisation, Soft and Deep Tissue Manipulation.

A huge emphasis is put on patient education and patient understanding, to allow the patient to be able to explain to family or friends if required, the diagnosis, the treatment and proposed management solution. This is where we vary from our competition. The patient will be given take-home exercises if required, to allow the patient to be involved in their rehabilitation in a hands-on manner.

Heart & Soul Clinical Myotherapy has a strong belief in providing a service to patients that is not necessarily bound by the treatment room. Some patient’s pain may only arise in a specific posture, such as car seat position, or a particular sporting movement (i.e. running-heel strike), which can make it difficult to treat in a clinic setting. This type of treatment is most easily addressed outside the clinic room, by assessing the car seat position, or the sporting movement in a more suitable environment, i.e. park/swimming pool. This treatment method will enable effects of the treatment to continue for a longer length of time, as the assessment is more individualized and detailed. I believe this type of hands-on, continuous treatment approach is fundamental for creating a caring, trustworthy relationship between practitioner and patient; whilst addressing the individual problem with a more detailed assessment and treatment program.
