Our Veterinarians

Dr Manuela TruebyManuela Truby
Owner
Dr Manuela Trueby graduated as a Veterinarian in 1984 from Ludwig-Maximilian University in Munich. She was introduced there to veterinary homeopathy by a course offered through the University.
In 1987 she completed her dissertation as Dr.med.vet.after holding a scientific tutor position at the Veterinary Faculty.

For 2 years she worked in private small animal practice, utilizing homeopathy, conventional medicine and neutraceuticals. 1989 Dr. Trueby came to Australia and worked as a vet at Taronga Zoo in Sydney and Western Plains Zoo in Dubbo, while completing a postgraduate degree in Wildlife Medicine and Husbandry at Sydney University.

Since 1992 Dr. Trueby has her own small animal clinic in Balmain, incorporating conventional therapy, homoeopathy, flower essences, Reiki, herbal medicine, nutritional therapy, treatment of small animals, exotics and wildlife.

She has featured in several articles, as well as various television and radio interviews.
She lectures on alternative therapies at veterinary conferences here and overseas.

In 2004 Dr. Trueby completed a Post Graduate Degree in Homoeopathy with the Royal Veterinary College in London and is now a recgonised specialist in the United Kingdom. She has also completed the exams and has been registered with the International Association of Veterinary Homoeopathy. Dr. Trueby is the only registered Homoeopathic Veterinarian in the Sydney region.

Manuela and her husband, Mitchell, and children, Sean and Allegra, live locally with their dogs, Tommy and Rex and their cat, Leopold.

Dr Marcos Serrano
Dr Marcos Serrano grew up surfing on Sydney’s northern beaches, and after completing a Bachelor of Science degree, transferred to Sydney University’s Faculty of Veterinary Science in 1996. He graduated with 1st Class Honors in 2001, having also completed a research degree in equine exercise physiology during his time there.

Upon completion of study, he developed his medicine and surgery skills in mixed practice south west of Sydney, before practicing as a locum on Sydney’s northern beaches, and heading to the UK. There, he worked in a busy 9-vet, mixed practice animal hospital in Somerset, living the life of an Aussie James Herriot in “All Creatures Great and Small” for 3 years, before practicing small animal medicine and surgery in London.
Following a period on the NSW south coast, he is happy to be settled back home in Sydney, and enjoys being part of the Balmain community.

Marcos is a friendly and approachable vet, and he believes that people, as well as their animals, should feel well looked-after when they visit the vets. He values the veterinarian’s role as a facilitator of animal health, listening to concerns and taking the time to discuss diagnostic and treatment options. He is especially good with nervous pets who don’t like coming to the vets! His areas of interest include surgery, cardiovascular disease and dermatology.

Dr Serrano currently lives near Manly with flatmate Merrilee and two border collie X kelpies, Donny and Zeus, and still loves surfing when he’s not at work.
