Homoeopathy
What is Homoeopathy?
It is a method of treating the sick. It takes into account that we are all individuals and hence react differently to our state of sickness.
Homoeopathy works on the principle that "what a substance can cause in symptoms it can cure". Homoeopathic medicines are tested on healthy human beings to show what symptoms they produce in a healthy person. These symptoms can then be compared to those symptoms of natural disease, both mental and physical. By comparing your symptoms with those known to be caused by a medicine we can choose the appropriate medicine in minute doses which will relieve these symptoms and lead to a curative effect.
Homoeopathic medicine is produced from plants, minerals and animals which are diluted and prepared to optimise their action. Homoeopathic medicines are not habit forming, they are safe, and they do not produce side effects. They are safe because only a minute dose of medicine is used, which is then Homoeopathically potentised during production to release the inherent therapeutic action of the substance used.
Homoeopathy can be used by everyone from the newborn baby of the family to the grandparents, as well as for pets and animals.
Homoeopathic medicine should not however be regarded as a substitute for all ailments and it is wise to seek the advice of your practitioner.
Bach Flower Remedies
What are Bach Flower Remedies?
The Bach Flower Remedies are 38 homoeopathically prepared plant and flower based remedies, each one specially devised to treat a different feeling.
They help you to manage the emotional demands of everyday life, the kind of feelings that affect everyday life.
They are the original flower remedies made according to the exact traditions of Dr Edward Bach.
The Bach Flower Remedies work by stimulating the body's own capacity to heal itself, by balancing negative feeling, helping you to take control, feel good about yourself, and get more out of life.
The Bach Flower Remedies are unique, simple to use, and suitable for all the family.
How do I take the Bach Flower Remedies?
Dilute 2 drops in a small glass of water and sip at intervals throughout the day or until relief is obtained. Replenish as necessary. Up to 5 Remedies may be taken together if required.
To take the Bach Rescue Remedy, dilute 4 drops in a small glass of water and sip at frequent intervals until relief is obtained.
If you keep them in the fridge, treatment bottles will last from 2 to 4 weeks. If you can't keep your bottle in the fridge but have to keep it in your pocket or handbag then you can add a teaspoon of brandy to the treatment bottle - this will help to keep the water from going off. If you don't want to use brandy, cider vinegar is an alternative, although it isn't quite so effective.
Aromatherapy
What is an Essential Oil?
Natural Essential oils are highly concentrated plant extracts obtained through steam distillation or expression from flowers, berries, seeds, roots, barks and citrus rinds.
They are clear liquid substances that vary in density, odour intensity and volatility. Despite their name, essential oils are not fatty substances but complex combinations of naturally occurring chemical constituents.
Essential oils have been described as the 'blood' of the plant - the 'lifeforce or soul' of the living organism. Their primary purpose is to protect the plant from disease and virus.
We are simply drawing on these known benefits and using them to assist in the promotion of our own health and wellbeing.
Unlike 'imitation fragrances', essential oils that are sourced exclusively for Aromatherapy are extracted from specific plant species and not synthetically fabricated in a laboratory. The most common method of extracting botanical essential oil for the purpose of Aromatherapy is through steam distillation. Other extraction processes employed today include expression or cold pressing (to obtain citrus oils and nut/seed carrier oils), solvent extraction (to obtain absolutes primarily used in perfumery) and infusion.
Carrier oils are exceptionally high grade, nourishing vegetable oils to use on their own or as a base for preparing your Aromatherapy blends. They are obtained by cold pressing, usually from nuts, kernels and seeds.

Tissue Salts
The building blocks to good health.
The human body contains twelve Tissue Salts, and a proper balance is necessary for good health.
The nutrients in the blood can be likened to the nutrients in the soil. plants, once stripped of essential ingredients, become sickly, but once enriched are able to recover and flourish. When our blood is lacking the necessary nutrients, cellular activity declines and our bodies become prone to illness. Health can be restored by giving the cells the essential nutrients they lack. This is biochemistry, the chemistry of living tissue.
Have you ever suffered from asthma, coughs/colds, varicose veins, gastro intestinal upset, slow healing wounds, skin disorders like dandruff and dermatitis, eye and ear infections, headache, insomnia, irritability or rheumatism?
According to Dr W. H. Schuessler, an eminent 19th century German Homoeopathic Physician, one or more of these disorders are an indication that the cellilar activity is disturbed and deficient in the vital Biochemic Tissue Salts.
The simple logic of Dr Schuessler's theory is:-- Disease does not occur if cell activity is normal; cell activity is normal if cell nutrition is normal.
- A mineral salt deficiency will impair the ability of cells to utilise their nutritional requirements.
- Cell nutrition can be revitalised by supplying the deficient mineral salt in a readily assimilated form.
Dr Schuessler found that the most effective way to assimilate these salts was through a homoeopathically prepared micro dose, which passes rapidly into the bloodstream and therefore into our cells.

Our Pharmacist is also a qualified Homoeopath with qualifications in herbal medicine and ayurvedic medicine.
We have our own herbal medicine formulations made up from 1:1 fluid extracts.
These allow our Herbalist to administer therapeutic doses while minimising the quantity of the botanical extract, and therefore the alcohol, the patient consumes.
We also supply tableted 'off the self' herbal medicines as well creating formulations.
Our herbal medicine dispensary uses the latest knowledge, and references and offers advice on potential side effects and interactions.
