I am Yoga
Yoga classes are a tremendous way to release tension and fatigue, to improve your health and to enhance your enjoyment of life. We are all unique and so poses and other practices need to be customised to suit individual needs. The classes are based on the understanding that postures should be performed so that there is a balance between effort and rest, tension and relaxation, strength and flexibility. To achieve this balance for each person requires individual adaptation of the poses and here an experienced teacher is very helpful.
We emphasise linking the breath with movement in the poses. One reason for this is that attention to the breath calms the mind and helps to promote the relaxed alertness necessary for a complete experience of Yoga.
Classes last an hour and fifteen minutes.
I Am Yoga Classes offer:- individualised instruction in carefully chosen poses which are the most useful for achieving health and wellbeing,
- precise instruction in specific breathing techniques to boost energy levels and still the mind,
- deep Yogic relaxation sessions which give incredibly deep rest to the system and gradually release deep rooted stresses,
- simple meditative practices for healing and transformation,
- simple pointers from the Yoga masters on how to reduce stress and live a more enjoyable life,
- support for developing a home Yoga practice, including handouts of Yoga routines.
Class Term Dates and Fees:- Oakleigh, New term starts on 31st Jan/1st Feb. Classes suitable for all levels.
CLASS TIMES:
Tuesdays: 6.15-7.30pm, Yoga Class
Wednesdays: 6.15-7.30pm, Yoga and Meditation Class (this new class has more emphasis on meditation than the other two. Here you can learn some simple and effective meditation techniques as well as a beautiful and powerful sequence of yoga poses)
Wednesdays: 7.30 - 8.45pm, Yoga Class
Venue for all three classes: Oakleigh Mechanics Hall, 142 Drummond St, Oakleigh.
You can join after the start of term by individual arrangement and only pay for the remainder of the term.
First lesson can be on a trial basis. Fee for initial trial class if not signing up for the term: $15.
You can attend any of the three classes and switch between them as convenient.
Casual class attendance is not permitted except in exceptional circumstances. Once enrolled you can attend additional classes, ie, two or three per week on a regular or occasional basis for an extra $5 per class.
Sahaj Samadhi Meditation:
Chris has been authorised by meditation master, His Holiness Sri Sri Ravi Shankar, to teach Sahaj Samadhi meditation. Meditation is the art of non-doing. Sahaj Samadhi Meditation allows the conscious mind to settle deeply into itself. When the mind settles down, it lets go of tension and stress, and rests in the present moment. The body/mind is able to restore it's natural state of balance and harmony. Better health and a wonderful sense of wellbeing become apparent.
Our inner nature of peace and joy becomes accessible easily through this simple and effortless technique. You will receive an individual mantra which is used in a uniquely subtle way. It is quite distinct from techniques where a mantra is repeated continuously.
Sahaj Samadhi meditation courses consist of 3 sessions on a Friday night, Saturday morning and Sunday afternoon. The next course is on at the Abbotsford Convent, Abbotsford. Please send an email to receive a flyer with course details and more information about the technique.
Cost is $250 full fee, $150 concession and $50 repeaters. The course fee includes a 2.5 hour group follow up session shortly after the course and unlimited phone, email or personal mentoring as required. Once you've learnt, you can repeat the course for $50.
The Art of Living Course:
This unique workshop features the powerful Sudarshan Kriya breathing practice. This technique harmonises the rhythms of body and mind with the rhythm of Being. Negative emotional patterns are dissolved, the whole body/mind complex is energised and relaxed and an incredible sense of wellbeing unfolds.
For anyone wanting to experience the essence of yoga this is a great place to start. The course also includes light yoga postures, meditation, and practical wisdom which is a great aid to expanding mental and emotional freedom and clarity.

Sri Sri Yoga Course:
Sri Sri Yoga is a discipline that is both gentle and powerful at the same time. It combines and integrates key aspects of yogic practices for uniting body, breath and mind in awareness. In Sri Sri Yoga, the wisdom and techniques of yoga are brought to you in a very joyful and thorough manner.
A combination of gentle and vigorous series of Asanas is taught for the well-being of the body and mind; and an equal emphasis is placed on techniques for further nurturing the mind and spirit.
This brings you back to your natural Self thereby nurturing all your inherent positive qualities. The Sri Sri Yoga course provide you with the essential tools for a healthier, happier, and harmonious life. The course usually consists of five classes on consecutive mornings or evenings, each lasting two hours. The course is a tremendous experience and many participants report profound positive shifts in their awareness, attitude to life, energy levels, health and general wellbeing.
