Kym offers over 20 years training & experience
Working with STRESS (including workplace),DEPRESSION, ANXIETY family & relationship issues, pain, chronic fatigue, recovery from abuse,grief and loss,childrens' counselling.

Kym integrates various training approaches, using methods such as Mindfulness, Cognitive Therapy, Interpersonal, Solution focused; Hypnotherapy, Stress Management...

Kym has trained in Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction,(based on Jon Kabat-Zinn's model), and runs classes in this,as well as Introductory courses in Vipassana Meditation, having been a practitioner for 30 years. These classes generally run in school terms, at Mona Vale.

COUNSELLING

Kym offers counselling or therapy for individuals, relationships , children and families. With over twenty years of training and experience working in both organisations and private practice, she has extensive experience in working with most problem areas, and is qualified in Family Therapy, Psychology,Psychotherapy, Hypnotherapy, and Stress Management. Her main areas of interest are:

STRESS REDUCTION & ANXIETY

SLEEP/EATING DISORDERS
GRIEF AND LOSS
RELATIONSHIP CONFLICTS

Kym has found that a MINDFULNESS approach yields great success when used in working with the above areas, and/or as a means of increasing personal awareness. This involves learning simple mind/body awareness skills, (sometimes also using some cognitive therapy ) and cultivating an attitude of gentleness and acceptance of one's self, resulting in less suffering, and greater 'centredness' and wellbeing. Clients learn how to live more fully 'in the moment', working mostly at home with this approach, with the option of using CDs after learning the basic skills,- so it is very cost effective.

HYPNOTHERAPY

Kym has Advanced Practitioner training in Clinical Hypnotherapy, from the NSW Academy of Applied Hypnosis (Govt. accredited), and integrates this training , where applicable,in working with issues such as addictive behaviours,self-esteem issues, recovery from abuse, stress management, anxiety and phobias. Sessions are initially conducted in person, and CD's can be provided for home use, where applicable. Kym works alot with ANXIETY and FOOD/EATING issues with hypnotherapy. She also works alot with children who are suffering from fears, phobias, adjustment issues,or BULLYING at school.

PSYCHOTHERAPY

Kym provides Psychotherapy, where indicated, based on psychodynamic, Mindfulness, Schema-focussed and Interpersonal methods. Kym also offers Buddhist psychotherapy, using a Mindfulness orientation, and is also available for consultations at the Australian BUDDHIST PSYCHOLOGY & MEDITATION CENTRE at Nth Sydney.

Kym offers health-fund rebates for several funds, and can tailor short or longer-term work to individual needs & situations.

Appointments available at AVALON AND NORTH SYDNEY
Both situations offer private and relaxed environments, with parking available. Flexible hours can be negotiated.
