Kinesiology

The following definition of Kinesiology was approved by the Australian Kinesiology Association in 1999. "Kinesiology encompasses holistic health disciplines which use the gentle art of muscle monitoring to access information about a person's well-being. Originating in the 1970's, it combines Western techniques and Eastern wisdom to promote physical, emotional, mental and spiritual health. Kinesiology identifies the elements which inhibit the body's natural internal energies and accessing the life enhancing potential within the individual."

How Holistic Kinesiology can help you

Holistic Kinesiology is a field of Kinesiology that encompasses a range of modalities to treat you and your family on a holistic level. Whether it be gaining the confidence to go for your ideal job, understanding and investigate further options for addressing your illness or furthering your personal or spiritual development, Kinesiology is for you.

You do not need to be sick to benefit from kinesiology. Kinesiology can treat you at any age, from pregnancy and birth through to the aging process.

Kinesiology addresses the underlying imbalances that lead to illness, stress, depression and anxiety, allergies, addictions, pain, weight problems & loss of motivation. Kinesiology can aid in enhancing learning and treating vision and other sensory imbalances, improving confidence and clarity and in gaining a life that inspires you.

All of these can block a person from wellness and living to their full potential. Kinesiology is the answer to unblocking your hidden power to be well, happy and in control of a life you can guide. When we feel well, we are well, act well and be well. We lead an inspiring life!

What happens in a treatment or session?

You can read all you like about Kinesiology however there is no substitute for experiencing a treatment yourself. You’ll be amazed to see how it works and, of course, you’ll begin to feel the benefits.

Your Kinesiologist will first take a medical and lifestyle history. You remain fully clothed in a Kinesiology session. The Kinesiologist will place your arms, legs or head into specific positions and then apply a light pressure. This is called muscle monitoring and the Kinesiologist will be feeling for a range of responses from the body. The quality of response to this pressure determines whether or not there is an imbalance in the muscle-organ-meridian circuit.

Muscle monitoring, as used by Kinesiologists, does not measure the raw physical strength - imbalances even show up in everyone, it is not a sign of weakness but a communication from your body.

Muscle monitoring gives the Kinesiologist information and feedback from your body about its condition. Since our bodies accumulate imbalances in a certain order, they will return to health quicker if the imbalances are treated in a certain order. Through the muscle monitoring, a Kinesiologist can assess the order in which to treat the imbalances. Often, once a priority imbalance has been treated, you will see that other related imbalances disappear immediately.

Based on feedback from the muscles, you and the Kinesiologist can discover exactly what is involved in your imbalances and devise a treatment plan. It may include nutritional supplements, various emotional stress release techniques, Bach Flower Remedies, acupressure, gentle structural realignment, Chakra balancing, light touch, firm reflex massage, suggested lifestyle changes and more. The exact treatment you receive depends on the feedback your body gives through the muscle monitoring about what it needs to return to health.
